The Mixed Plate in Hanalei is one of my favorites. Outside seating on the edge of the main shopping plaza. The food is always great and the price is right.
Top shelf eats can be had at Pacific Cafe. One of the best restaurants in all of Hawaii. In Kapaa I believe. In a plaza near one of the big grocery stores.
Thank you Howard! I was hoping I could go to a great spot and hang loose with the local people and enjoy some great food. Living in west Kansas, there aren’t many opportunities to sample exotic food.
Kauai has lots of upscale, Hawaiian Regional Cuisine (Pacific Rim) restaurants (Roy’s, A Pacific Cafe, Hanalei Cafe, etc.)that should be visited but they are by no stretch of the imagination what we would call Roadfood. Kauai’s Roadfood claim to fame has got to be Hamura’s Saimin Stand (2956 Kress Street in the town of Lihue). Here you will rub elbows with the locals who are bent over huge, steaming bowls of the best noodle soup you will ever have. By the way, Hamura’s also sells very tasty teriaki beef and chicken skewers that should not be missed.
Take us ALL with you…we could all use a nice break in February…especially to HI![8D]
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I am traveling to Kauai in February and need some recommendations as to where to eat. We want to splurge one night, but prefer little out of the way places too. We will have wheels, so all loations will be considered on the island. Thanks!
