Fried Pie Shop: A Gas station + Pies = Perfection

We found the Fried Pie Shop while circling the Parking area at it’s neighbor, Lamberts Cafe, our goal for a lunch stop on I-55 in Southern Missouri. The combination of gas station and pie shop caught our eye, and a positive endorsement on Trip Advisor had us take a closer look. The place was spotlessly clean, the prices were moderate and we were in the mood for some travel snack desserts after our lunch at Lamberts. So, we ordered several fruit pies and enjoyed them as we headed for Little Rock.

Two days later on the return trip we made a point of calling ahead to order two dozen of the fried pies to bring home with us. They were ready when we finished our Lamberts lunch (again) and we left with two boxes of apricot, cherry, blackberry, lemon, and pecan pies. The filling has good fruit flavor and the crust holds it’s shape well, without leaving a grease trail in it’s wake.

Even comparing them them to the well known pies found in DeValls Bluff, I would give the vote to the folks in Sikeston as their Pies are larger, contain more filling, offer more choices of flavors, including the savory meat pies, and are open 7 days a week for over 12 hours per day…and make your pies to order.
