Lettuce Toss It: Fresh Vegetarian Delights

I recently stopped at Lettuce Toss It, a funky and cozy spot in Chino Hills, CA that features vegetables as the lead in most of their dishes. Many restaurants forget that a salad can be a star. A standout salad needs to be complex, with varied textures and flavors playing on one another, but unified in a harmonious dance by a delicious dressing. The aptly named Lettuce Toss It, understands that balance and creates marvelous salads that highlight the creativity of owner Tammi Jones. She and her daughter opened Lettuce Toss It in 2013, and have been feeding the Inland Empire healthy and hearty meals ever since. 

What to eat at Lettuce Toss It in Chino Hills, CA

Salads

Their salads look just as delicious as they taste, in particular, their specialty salads are delightful combinations, with optional choices of protein. I chose the “Sizzling Stripper” and added steak for more protein. The salad was a delicious combination of vegetables with a Cali-Mex twist, starting with a bed of crisp lettuce, tangy crunchy strips of bell peppers, with creamy bits of avocado, topped with salty crumbles of cotija cheese and crunchy fried onions. The steak on top was flavorfully marinated. The suggested dressing for the Sizzling Stripper is their House Cilantro Cream, which brought the whole thing together with a lovely creamy and herbal blend. Small note, the hefty portion did not make it easy to mix once I added my dressing, so I do recommend asking for the salads to be tossed before taking it to go. 

Sandwiches

Along with their salads, they offer stuffed baked potatoes and grilled sandwiches they call Grillers. I got the Spicy Heater Peter Griller, which is a turkey, bacon, and cheddar sandwich with jalapenos to really wake everything up.

Dessert

Finally, I would be deeply remiss in not mentioning their cookies. After a fairly healthy meal, a little temptation of chocolate or caramel pecan cookie is just soul satisfying and these surprised me with their variety and freshness.
