I now have a better understanding of your perspective of where you come from. Thanks for the clarification. I’m only 65, retired 9 years and still dealing with the first wife and don’t like golf.
Indeed, some of my "luckier" days were spent at the Gold Cup. But, as I am 60 now and happily with my fourth wife I advise only in regard to food and golf.[:(]
I’ve never attended an all day wedding. The Gold Cup is all day event. Come and go as you wish event. Perhaps the gentleman is a multi-tasker.
I believe the gentleman stated that he was obligated to attend a wedding that day.
C’est un dommage!
Here is a place that we stopped at a month ago. The pulled pork was good and the beans were terrific. You have to eat in your car or sit at tables whcih adjoin the barbeque place………..think it is an Amish store that sells the furniture but you are welcome to sit there and eat.
This place is right on Rt 29 just a couple of miles north of Warrenton on the west side of the road. You have to look carefully or you might miss it.
Don’t overlook the Virginia Goldcup, first Saturday in May. Same as the Ky. Derby.
You’re in luck.
Warrenton has a Five Guys. They serve one of the best burgers in the U.S. http://www.fiveguys.com/
IMHO Willard’s BBQ is by far the best in the greater Metro D.C. area. They are just up the road in Chantilly and well worth the 10 mile trip from Warrenton. http://www.dcbbq.com/
Breakfast: on the way up 29 toward Chantilly you will see a "Country Restaurant" on your right about four miles North of Warrenton. Great stuff!!! Country fried steak and eggs! YUM!
If you have a fine dining yen, go West 211 about 15 minutes and find what has for 30 years been rated, often the very best, and always one of the five best restaurants in the United States of America. http://www.theinnatlittlewashington.com/restaurant.asp
Memories of the meals I enjoyed there actually raise the hair on my arms. Take your wallet.
If you have time for golf I highly recommend South Wales – go out 211 6 or so miles to the first light (Shell Station on your right). Turn left; one mile on your left. Extremely reasonable. Great layout by the same guy that desighed TPC Avenel.
Going next friday for a Saturday wedding, looking for a breakfast place, a good Q place, or dog and burger place.
