Hello All,
Gary, try this site http://ns1.vgnet.com/vb/dining.php
Take Care,

I live in Virginia Beach and would highly recommend staying away from seafood buffets. Nick’s seafood on laskin at the oceanfront is good as well as the seafood at the Mediterranean Seafood Company, which is on med a half block up from 17th street. The twisted fish on 17th and Mediterranean is also excellent. All these places are very reasonably priced. Isle of Capri is very good and located at the oceanfront in the Holiday Inn Sun spree (I think) The diner inside the Belvedere hotel at the oceanfront is a great place for breakfast as is Mary’s on 17th. If you are looking for an excellent upscale restaurant at the Beach try Zo s on 19th. If you go try the blue crab mac and cheese. Rudees and Rockefellers at rudee inlet are also good. Bubba’s and Chix on Shore drive are great. Stay away from the seafood buffets. You can pretty much guarantee the food has been previously frozen.
As buffets go, captain georges is pretty good.
Get there early!
There is a great drive-in in neighboring Norfolk called Doumar’s. They have very good burgers, bbq and ice cream. They founder of the restaurant is supposedly the inventor of the ice cream cone and they have an old cone making machine right inside the door.
A co-worker of mine raves about a seafood buffet place in Virginia Beach called Captain George’s. http://www.captaingeorges.com Since I haven’t eaten there, I can’t vouch for it myself.
It’s been a few years since I’ve been there but here’s a few that I really miss:
Isle of Capri (ocean front area) – Italian – a little pricy but very good
Blue Pete’s (pungo/sandbridge area) – Seafood/Steaks – a little pricy but very good.
Sea Crest (pungo/sandbridge area) – Seafood – Greek influence. Very casual..very good seafood. Affordable.
Baja at Sandbridge (sandbridge area) – this is really a bar that serves food but the crab cakes (back in the day) were always very good and the rest of the menu was good.
VA Beach… one of my favorite places. Some to try:
Beach Pub on Laskin Road
Charley’s(back off the beach; ask a local)
Isle of Capri (upscale; wonderful)
Have a great time!
Try Gringo’s Taqueria on Norfolk Avenue at the Beach. Very casual. Excellent shrimp tacos.
Going Kayaking in the Virginia Beach area August 11-14. Any ideas on fun food in the area??
