Who’s making a big kettle of chili today?
I was planning on it, but was short of cumin. Tomorrow.
I failed. I’m making 14 quarts of gumbo today to regain a shred of family honor.
A day late and worth the wait.
UPDATE: I somehow used 1/2 cup of chili powder instead of 1/4 cup. A very rich Bowl of Red.
That’s fine. Better too much than too little. Hope you had the proper accoutrement.
Today is National Chili Day in the U.S
Well, I didn’t have any chili on chili day, (we had a pot last week), but I did have a side of BBQ brisket chili from City BBQ last night. Decided to try this newish item off their menu and I was pleasantly surprised! Loads of their slow smoked brisket with a bit of black beans in a base that wasn’t very spicy, at all, but somehow still worked. They give you cheddar, jalapeno and some sour cream to top it and those toppings actually complemented the chili quite well. For a chain BBQ restaurant they did a decent job!
