Here’s a look at Thursday’s dinner joint…
…it will be Polish food all the way! Chicago is home to a large Polish population and this will be a fitting beginning to our journey!
So sorry you won’t be able to join us, especially for the reason stated. Hope things are looking up soon so you can meet us at the next gathering, wherever it may be.
I've just booked us a hotel room at the Best Western in Des Plaines. $80 A night and it has decent reviews.
Mustard’s Last Stand is the one right next to Northwestern’s stadium, right? Mr. Maki and I went there a couple years ago- very disappointing. I’ve always wanted to try Bill’s Hot Dog Stand in Evanston- anyone been there?
I was really hoping to try to pull off a trip for this, but I pretty much got laid off last month so the money's not there.
Sounds like a great itinerary though. You guys should have a blast.
We are aware of the Draft and will be avoiding those areas. Thanks!
Jen & John,
We too forgot that you were heading home early. Bobbi & I enjoyed meeting you. Perhaps a Montreal Smoked Beef & Poutine Tour will be in our futures.
John you are quite welcome. Expect me to pick your brain about Canada. I hope to make a trip there this year or next at the latest. I'm not exactly sure what part I would go to though.
I'll be driving my car, should have room for at least two possibly three.
I’m going to stop eating NOW.
I just noticed this is the same weekend as the Draft.
Will that impact anything, like parking, driving routes, etc?
Bearden’s was my wife’s high school hangout. It is that old. [:)] We will be mostly on the east side in Willoughby.
This most unusual sign just down the street from Freddie’s. Is there a designated parking spot for gangs?
Given Cicero’s legendary history, I wonder if that ordinance dates back to the 1930s!
I had a great holiday. Old friends, New friends and great food. What more could a guy ask for? Well the exceptional planning was a big plus.
It was great to put faces to names that I had seen on here for a long time. Thanks to everyone for helping to make such a great trip.
==1. I find that French is much more colourful and flows better when stuck in traffic with pushy drivers all around. Brings out the Montrealer in me. Many thanks to Mike S. for getting past all that and getting Jen and I to all stops safely.
I dunno. I’m still afraid I’ll starve to death if I sit next to CTD. Heck, I nearly starved to death in Mobile sitting between Al and Mike S. Those two were gobbling down oysters like there was no tomorrow. After 3 dz. I decided I’d better order some dinner!
