Can you explain the boiled peanuts connection to summer??
Fresh sweet corn, all kinds of melons, papaya stuffed with shrimp salad, and all the recipe ideas I’ve gotten from reading these threads over the winter! [:D]
All the above and boiled peanuts!
I cant wait for bbq season here in Wisconsin.Fresh corn, tomatoes and melons from the local farmers.Burgers, brats, and even hot dogs cooked on the grill.Warm weather and good company..
Fresh corn is at the top of my list, followed by a sweet watermelon and tomatoes from the local farmer’s market. I can’t hardly wait. I am definitely a warm weather person and even though we don’t have harsh winters here cold is to clod for me.
Today is very strange when I left for work this morning it was 57 degrees and at lunch is was 45 and going down to freezing tonight with possible light snow flurries.
Fresh, local corn on the cob, home grown tomatoes and anything grilled. Mmmmmm. Must buy grill.
Summer to us is our fresh garden produce. We grow 4 kinds of Tomatoes…this summer adding the superb Ramapo..first time seeds available in decades> Check this out on the internet!!!! We make sauce with our Romas and love a fresh Tomato and lettuce on toast made with our own stuff. Also love frying up our Italian peppers…and making lots of things with our Zuchini. Of course, summer is also fresh lemonade…and our grill gets a lot of use too.
Burger hot off the grill, fresh crisp lettuce and onion, mayo ketchup, potato roll. baked beans, roasted corn with butter and salt and an ice cold, ripe sweet watermellon.

I’m looking forward to/craving some summer time eating. Can’t wait for a big, juicy burger hot off the grill, topped with fresh from the garden tomato, lettuce, onion, pickles, ketchup, and mustard. A side of beautiful, sweet corn on the cob, dripping with butter and salt. A glass of sweet tea with lots of ice and a slice of lemon. And a big hunk of icy cold watermelon to finish it off.
What foods do you look forward to in the summer?
Pam
My wife and I were discussing this very thing tonight with a friend! We are sick of winter- we’re getting yet another snowstorm as we speak- up to 6" of snow is expected, and Wednesday’s high is only 19F, with a low of 14F. I long for warmer weather so I can fire up the grill/ smoker. I’m looking forward to burgers, hot dogs, salmon, pulled pork, spare ribs, steaks, pork chops, corn on the cob, etc, on the grill!
Here’s to then!
Ah – summer – I was just thinking the other day about fresh tomatoes – my personal favorite – and corn – they must be on top of the list – but we also get pretty excited about the first new potatoes paired with fresh green beans and then the little yellow squashes either sauteed or grilled.
And let’s not forget the arrival of purple hull peas – not to be confused with black eyed peas – real purple hull peas cannot be reckoned with.
Top that burger with a big slice of Vidalia onion. And let’s have fresh peach cobbler for dessert.
Soft shelled crab fried,on a roll with a lettuce leaf and a smattering of tartar sauce.[:p][}:)]
Sitting down at the beach in Rhode Island eating raw clams, lobster rolls, and oysters.[:p]
Theres just 2 much sinful summer eating, now i’m feeling hungrey.[}:)]
fresh corn, tomato sandwiches, and watermellon eaten on the back deck with juices running down my arms
wait….you forgot soft shelled crabs on the grill!!! and herbs picked from your own garden….and outdoor farmer’s markets…..clambakes……..I could go on and on
