Hey BlueMaxx,
My brother in law is a pure stockcar racer at Orange County Speedway in NY
We are called Miracle-Benz Racing and I pretty much handle the business end of things .
He has one win and placed 4th in points last year.
Plans are in the works for a weekly Racing oriented show to be broadcast in the Northeast and over the internet , we are in negotiations with a few sponsors as we speak. I would be the host.
My other show is Prime Time on Fridays 1230-3pm on http://www.wtbq.com
The show will air April through Sept .
More info to come

I’m from Donalsonville (now living in BR)& yes I used to have big block Camaro that we played around with at the DS’s around here.
Here’s another good place about 15min from NP.

Thanks for the intro Rich. As mentioned I will be heading to Atlanta hopefully in March, before then I am also heading to Orlando to see the big rat, and the following weekend to Ft. Myers and will definatly be stopping at Flora & Ellas for some good southern cooking. If you are ever near Ft. Myers it is a must eat! ( yet another place Rich has introduced me to)
Everyone, gofoodracer is my good buddy, Brian. As you can see from his post count, he’s new here. Please welcome him. Nice guy, extremely knowledgeable about food, cars and music. I knew he’d like it here and especially getting to know many of the places we’ve been and the people behind the suggestions. He’s going to be heading to Road Atlanta soon so he’s going to be needing places to eat not only in the Atlanta area but also near the track.

Rich, you got to go here. This place looks great. bring cholesteral medication, it looks like you will need it at this place! actually, bring a defibrillator!
007bond-jb…..WOW!! That place looks like a dream! I take it that you are either a fellow racer who’s been to NP Raceway or a local to the area? I mean, how on earth would anyone know of a place like this. Great suggestion!
mgyip – I am heading to Daytona tomorrow (1/25) to help a team out in the Koni Challenge race. I love that series more than just about anything. As you can see from our website, it is the closest thing to what I race.
Glad to help out a fellow racer – I’ve worked for World Challenge and Grand Am Cup (now Koni Challenge) teams for a few years and have always found it amusing that I know great places to eat in some of the strangest parts of the country [:D] However, when I travel with the latest Koni Challenge team (which is comprised on a more "seasoned" group), we seem to hit a myriad of chain restaurants that offer AARP discounts [|)]
The tavern/restaurant at VIR is $$$ – the food is OK but for the price, there are better options. If you’re up for a real dive, hit the pizza place in Milton, NC on your way to the track from Danville. They serve subs as well so you could easily grab that for lunch instead of the usual "track food" that we all know and love [xx(]
The SCCA Enduro team that I work with (RC Imports – http://www.rc-imports.com) used to race the Homestead enduro but it looks to be off for ’08 [:(] I’ll miss Mario’s in Florida City which had become our "usual" for dinner after practice & qualifying.
There is still very little around Slummit Point – I’m local to that area and short of driving to either Berryville or Winchester, there aren’t many options. Berryville has a few new restaurants that I haven’t tried but I’m partial to either Mario’s Pizza or Camino Real. Camino Real has another location in Winchster but I like the Berryville branch because it’s close-by and a bit more personal.
There is precious little worth visiting around Nelson Ledges – nothing within a 20 minute drive except perhaps for the Dairy Queen [:p] The track food at Nelson is actually damn good – if you’re not up for that, either pack your own or be prepared for a long voyage.
mgyip – thanks for the recommendations for VIR. Sounds like a perfect place to go, especially since other racers will be there. Good "roadfood-esk" type places are my priority when traveling for races but it is even better to share these places with Foodies and/or Racers. Turns out that Barber in Leeds, AL is one place I don’t absolutely need a place to go. Two years ago I put up a post and the Roadfooders came through BIGtime! I was just looking for additional places in the B-ham area that I didn’t already know about.
As for the other tracks you mentioned, I know the areas around Watkins Glen and Homestead very well. I live in S.Florida and my wife is from Key Largo so whenever racing at Homestead, it is like home to us. I doubt there are any other racers out there that know that area better. I’ve been to Summit Point once but it was back in 1993 and I remember there was absolutely NOTHING around. Is it still the same? Whenever I head to CA Speedway or Nelson Ledges, I will definitely need your help. Thanks again!
When at VIR, we like to stop at Los Tres Magueyes – http://www.lostresmagueyes.com/menu.htm It’s located downtown, across from the K-Mart and is the old-fashioned, sterotypical Mexican restaurant covered in pink stucco. The food is quite good though and it’s usually filled with workers and other VIR participants in the evenings.
While I’ve been to Barber for the inaugural race (Grand Am Cup), we ate at a Japanese Steak House on one night and a local BBQ place near our hotel the second – neither of which were memorable other than they provided food after a long day at the track.
Can’t speak for the other tracks – can’t you go someplace I know like Watkins Glen, Nelson Ledges, Slummit Point, California Speedway or Homestead? [:D]
Ok people, I need your help once again. I know this is WAY in advance but I am starting to put together my ’08 racing schedule and I want to start laying the ground work on where I plan to eat while in some of these towns. Below is a list of tracks that I plan to be racing at this year. I have also included the dates I will be there in case any of you want to join us at the track or for a meal and also the town that the track is located in. If you are familiar with any of these places, I sure could use your help finding good Roadfood joints nearby.
Toronto, Canada (Mosport Int’l Raceway) – August 1-3
Danville, VA (Virginia Int’l Raceway) – August 8-10
Leeds, AL near Birmingham (Barber Motorsports Park) – November 15-16
Belle Rose, LA between Baton Rouge and New Orleans off I-10 (No Problem Raceway) – November 22-23
Savannah, GA (Roebling Road Raceway) – December 5-7
Of course, there are many other tracks that we plan to be at this year. You can see them on my racing website at http://www.BluemaxxRacing.com but the above place I will be needing your help with. Thanks WAY WAY in advance! [8D]
