I work ridiculous hours, often on little to no sleep. Coffee is great, but not always practical. I recently started buying Awake chocolate bars (http://awakechocolate.com http://awakechocolate.com/), and cannot recommend them enough! It’s not the best quality chocolate, I’d say about on par with Palmer, but the added caffeine is exactly the right amount for about 5-6 hours of coherence, at least for me. They’re a little spendy ($1.99 each) at regular price, but they go on sale fairly frequently for a dollar.
He does the same thing with Horseradish, only different.
I flew First Class once from Seattle to LAX. I had a talker next to me who had his fill of mini bottles.
I would have preferred Coach on that one.
Saw one of those Emirates A-380s just about to hit the landing strip at LAX a few weeks ago. OMG they are big!

OK. I know there was another thread where we were talking about BBQ sauces, but I’ll be darned if I can find it! I’ve worked my way through the Heinz BBQ sauces now, (except the new Hawaiian) and I must say that their Carolina Mustard Sauce is absolutely killer! (The Carolina Vinegar sauce is awesome, too!) They don’t have crap in them, like so many other sauces and the taste is super! This one goes with just about any pork you make. I’ve been using it on country style ribs in the Instant Pot and on pulled pork from my local BBQ chain joint. This stuff makes an excellent pork sauce. And it’s not expensive in the least!
The Green Weenies forced Cascade to change the name of their “real” dishwasher powder w/ phosphates. So, the http://www.restockit.com/procter-gamble-automatic-dishwasher-powder-num-pgc59535.html?source=IDx20111014x00001g&utm_source=IDx20111014x00001g&utm_medium=paid&utm_campaign=gpla&gclid=CPOQ_Y2_xsECFYSPMgodTDkAWQ URL I gave on page 5, #145 is for the crappy stuff that leaves coffee and wine stains. Do not be deceived like I was.
THE REAL DEAL is now deceptively called “Fryer Boil Out“.
The “greenies” forced the name change because of guys like me who simply refuse to obey their silliness. But I’m too smart for those fascist ba$tard$.[;)]
http://www.restockit.com/procter-gamble-with-phosphates-professional-fryer-boil-out-num-pgc59097.html Here’s the URL for the “good stuff”: the original Cascade w/phosphates.
Freedom of the press has helped to keep us safe for a few hundred years. Here is some info that “they” would just as soon that the peons would not have access to, but thanks to zillions of posts like Jim’s, the news gets out. Like so many posts, it may be true, or it may be not, but it puts the reader in a position to find out for herself. Thanks MetroplexJim!!
You are welcome.
Foolishly, I doubted ‘the internet’ and ordered the Cascade which turned out to be the same crap they sell in the grocery stores.[V]
I gave the 5 huge boxes away to colleagues and ordered the “Fryer Boil Out” which turns out to be good ‘ol phosphate Cascade.
My dishes, pots, and glasses now GLEAM![8D]
For years, I was confused about the difference between Blue Bell, and Blue Bunny. Both were from out of my area, and “special”, to be eaten only on vacations. Now I know the difference, but only Bunny is sold here in Massachusetts, and it is just one of many “good” ice creams. Maybe Bell will make it up here, now that the new facility is running, but I really don’t care all that much.
Speaking of “good” ice cream, Friendly has been sold to big dairy company, Dean Foods. It will be interesting to see what they do with it. Speculation on biz talk shows is that Dean only wants the ice cream plant, in Wilbraham ,Mass, and that the restaurants will go the way of Howard Johnson. I got to meets Pres Blake, one of the founders a few times. He remembered my name, and always listened to my worthless comments. (He must have been 70 or so at the time, and a trustee where I went to college). Friendly has foundered (IMO) for about 40 years, under different owners, and (IMO) never got back the “magic”, that it lost, when the Blake brothers left. The late Norm Jannery, a legendary Friendly manager, once told me that running an ice cream shop is not rocket science, but it is not “good management” either. Management looks at numbers. The Blakes taught him that restaurant “management” was not about management, but about pleasing customers, each and every time. That is an interesting concept, and each time it is re invented, the “managers” think that they have come up with something “new”.
Lexus: reliable, comfortable, quiet, safe, & powerful.
And, due to their high resale, they are relatively inexpensive to lease, i.e., a $50,000 Lexus product leases for about the same as a $30,000 ‘domestic’.[;)]
I remember reading that the best way to decide on a car is to look at lease rates. I hear ads talk about “projected resale value”, but they put their money where their mouth is when they set a residual value for a lease. Even if you plan to buy, rather than lease, the car with the best lease rates is a better bet on resale value. I read a devastating review on the new Chrysler 200 today. I wonder how it’s lease rate will compare to a Camry??
Finally someone found a good use for one………an indoor sprinkler! Smart kids.
That’s the Plantation brand? That label isn’t very telling.
My go to lately has been Cholula. It has good flavor.
I like Cholula, too – especially on hash browns.
But, the sauce above is nothing like it. It is unique, bottled under private label for the Another Broken Egg Caf restaurants.
Morphine can be a good thing.
I’ll say. I hope my supply gets me through January 20, 2017.[;)]
Great bidet story to tell you!
The master bathroom in our house is huge and includes a bidet. Twelve years ago, when granddaughter was 4 years old and grandson was 2, they wandered into master bathroom and discovered the bidet and decided to turn it on to see what it was. Unfortunately, there must have been a malfunction because when they turned it on, the water shot 4 feet up in the air! They were delighted with this and jumped under it and got gloriously wet………..screaming in delight, until Greymo, hearing all the joyous screams and laughter, ran in to investigate! I could not believe my eyes!
For the first and last time, my son swore at his children. He asked “How in heck can we keep this from happening again?” I suggested turning off the water supply. To my knowledge it has not been turned on since.[:D]
A year ago my Cuisinart toaster broke.
Rather like Mrs. Metro III, it looked very nice, but was useless.
As the Princess (Mrs. Metro IV) does not purchase any breads that are pre-sliced, I wanted a toasting device that would accommodate her nearly daily acquisitions.
I asked Roadfooders to assist me in my search in http://forums.roadfood.com/We-Need-a-New-Toaster-m818710-p4.aspx#842425 this thread, which despite its narrow focus went to four pages of replies!
As a result, we bought https://www.amazon.com/Breville-BTA830XL-Die-Cast-4-Slice-Toaster/dp/B00AZY3TFE/ref=sr_1_5/164-3116615-4319833?ie=UTF8&qid=1474137104&sr=8-5&keywords=breville+toaster+bta820xl this model of a Breville toaster a year ago; it has performed – as advertised – magnificently.
Truly, this is a “product I really like”!
I lived in Europe too long. You couldn’t pay me enough money to have one in my house! [xx(]
