I was finally able to visit Pleasant House Bakery which is a restaurant known for their classic savory British Pastry Pies.
I choose the Steak and Ale Pie ( Carrots, Shallot, & Herbs ) crowned with mash potatoes and gravy. My husband ordered
the “Pub Burger with Chips” ( Beef double patty grilled, Cheddar cheese, Bacon aioli, Bacon & Red onion on a Pleasant House bun )
The service was very friendly, the atmosphere was cozy, if you are a Soccer fan like we are they have matches on the TV.
I SO wished it was closer to our hotel in the Gold Coast because I would have visited them a second time for sure! From
now on when visiting Chicago it s going to be a Must Stop for me- everything was Awesome!
Good place…been there several times. Their newer location (the one you visited) is much more user friendly than the last place. I do like their food although on occasion, I’ve had something a bit older that wasn’t as fresh. Since I usually go with a group, we just move that item aside and motor on! Glad to hear you enjoyed it.
What other Chicago places did you visit and what was your opinion of them?
Oh my…that’s awful great looking!!!Especially that steak and ale pie!
I don’t know any British slang to say that they look really good, so I’ll have to make something up:
“Quite the queen’s knickers ye ‘ave there, mate!”[;)]
WOW…that’s quite a list….i may need to travel with you guys! I am Staying Tuned!
