Actually, if I tell the truth about it, some of the stuff we eat here at our house might look a little bit revolting to other people. Hubs makes a shrimp and pasta dish, sort of like scampi,, that would probably look a lot like vomit to some people, but it smells really good, and tastes delicious.
I guess beauty really is in the eye of the beholder.
I think "revolting" is all in the eye of the beholder. As a beholder, my eyes were truly revolted by the mushy peas. On the other hand, I think the Brits do know how to do the breakfast thing. Fred PS not knowing how to cook vegetables doesn’t make you a bad nation.
There’s a really good site if you want to know more about British food — http://www.greatbritishkitchen.co.uk/. Lots of food history and recipes.
I can also confirm that fish & chips with mushy peas is delicious, as is pie and mash with parsley sauce. I steer clear of the jellied eels, though.
At least they look half better than a photo posted once before in the sandwich section here awhile back.[}:)]
I dunno… Them Fish n Chips with the mushy beans where looking pretty good to me…
OK. Where is the URL?
I stumbled on this site using the stumble extension of the firefox browser, and thought it was pretty interesting. A few of the pictures look appetizing, but some, like the northern favorite of fish, meat, potato pie, and mushy peas, look sort of, well….revolting.
There are also pictorial instructions on the site for making shepherd’s pie, and goulash.
