I am originally from Lewistown Pa., I grew up with Peachy’s. They normally have a buffet, stocked to the brim with all kinds of Amish/Mennonite treats. Everything from Shoo-fly pie to Pa., Dutch Pot Pie, and yes it is all made right there!
In the butcher shop/country grocery you’ll find some of the freshest meats and produce the area has to offer. I live in the DC area now and still make at least two or three trips a years to bring back homemade sausage!!!! I especially like the hot sausage……hmmmmmmmmmm maye it’s time for a trip home….
Peachey’s is a mennonite family who serve the Amish community in Bellville. My brother worked for them, picking up milk from the Amish farms for delivery to the pasturization plant and butchering. The restaurant normally serves meals each Wednesday ("Sale" day) when the Amish and Mennonite farmers bring in their goods; this is also aution day. They used to have a flea market on Tuesday evenings, not sure if this still occurs. My family lives in McVeytown, just over the mountain. Also in Belleville, you will find Peight’s store; the Amish grocery store. You can usually pick up some local goods there as well. If you haven’t been there before, the area is beautiful.
Has anyone else heard of this Amish restaurant/craft store/ livestock auction/ ??? place?
A friend at work has told me about this place and he couldn’t quit bragging about how good all the food was. All fresh homestyle made right there.
