I also like her sons and find it very sweet how close they are to their mom

"Food is Oriental, people are Asian." Reminds me of the line from Animal House where Dean Wormer’s wife tells a fratboy, "Food is sensual, people are sensuous." By the way, there’s a restaurant in my town called Oriental Palace, obviously run by Asians. Doesn’t get more pc than that.

I can not stand rachel ray bc I have seen her in my neighborhood and she was rude to me 2X…so she is a big phony.
However, Paula seems genuine and I do get a kick out of her recipies. I have a lot going on personally and sitting back with her show relaxed me and takes me back to a simpler time.

What’s not to like? She’s pleasent, and I agree with the above poster..I’d date her in a minute! She worked hard to get where she is. As far as her boys are concerned, it’s very obvious that she loves them, and they adore her. Gee..there’s a terrible outcome if I ever heard one. So what if her recipes are fattening?? You don’t have to eat them every day or even every month for that matter. I’m not from the south, hate grits, and a number of other southern dishes, but I would definately consider Paula my favorite southern dish.

I love Paula so much, but, I can easily understand, that crazy amounts of butter and fat are problematic…but for Paula, maybe not the biggest concern. She might have really low cholesterol, etc.

I’ve never seen a woman love fat the way Paula Deen loves it. She eats sticks of butter like other people eat Kit-Kats…
always sumed it up for me.

Sweet lady and I have tried many of her recipes. Some OK, some over the top.

Not all things apply to all people. Great persona and story though. Remember, it’s just TV.[:p]

I think Paula is adorable. No desire to sleep with her, however. [V]

I have no idea why but I mildly enjoyed her show. And I loathe Rachel, Giada, Sandra and many more. Maybe because she isn’t apologetic about her cooking. (Frankly, I’m tired of all the health conscious cooking. Why not just give the food police at Science in the Public Interest a show and be done with it?) I find her folksy with a sense of humor but not all that pretentious. I used the past tense because 1) I can’t stand her sons when they are on the show, 2)Why is her husband/concubine on? He adds nothing. 3) I really didn’t need to see those two in bed (breakfast show.) and 4) On the breakfast show she made a boxed cake. I can only assume she is being assimilated by Sandra Lee!

I dislike Paula Deen’s show’s tremendously. Her personality is way too "LOOK AT ME! I’M A QUIRKY SOUTHERN LADY!!". The schtick wears thin in about 2 minutes. I also would never cook the way she does. Tradition is one thing, but she has zero consideration for health in her cooking. I personally think that there must be a balance between healthy eating and good taste, at least sometimes.

I find her sons just as annoying as I find her. I cannot believe the Food Network put them on the air. Alton Brown’s roadtrip shows put the Deen Brothers to shame.

I have watched Paula Deen for years and in my opinion only, she does a very nice job. She was in Knoxville a couple of weeks ago and she sold out. Huge crowd. Obviuosly not everyone likes her show.

I think you really must be from the South to appreciate her style of cooking, and her "manner" in general.
But.. It would be nice to have her do some less fattening recipe’s also.
A whole stick of butter?.. And a cup of heavy cream..
    Whooo doggies….
Can’t eat like that on a regular basis anymore.

Can’t stand her. Exceptionally annoying. Makes Rachel Ray seem mellow.
