Okay–I looked up an article: http://newsfeed.time.com/2013/04/05/kfc-to-offer-boneless-chicken http://newsfeed.time.com/…ffer-boneless-chicken/
Ah, the Chicken Ranch. But as I recall (fondly) it wasn’t, um, boneless.
EDITED in a hopeless (probably) attempt to get out of the doghouse:
That was when I was 18, and all I ever had money for was the gas to get there from Austin and a few bottles of Pearl beer.
I’m not a fan of boneless, but the Double Down is a delicious work of junk fast food.
Well I think the big deal about it is that one of the most well known fried chicken places around may no longer sell chicken WITH a bone. At least that’s what I took from the article. That and they were talking about their new chicken CHUNKS without actually saying what exactly the CHUNKS consisted of.
Now if they would just put their 11 herbs and spices back in the chicken it might be worth buying – the true unique spicy flavor it was when Colonel Sanders was still alive and involved in KFC !
I’ve been trying to figure out why this is such a huge thing it even made the national news. We eat boneless chicken all the time, have for years. It only makes sense that KFC would offer boneless chicken.
I can’t find a clean KFC anywhere near me, so I might eat there once every two years when I’m out of town. I would hope they don’t get rid of the bones altogether.
Or perhaps a chicken fried steak since they’ve already got the biscuits and the mashed potatoes and the breading. They would have to work on that gravy though.
I hope KFC starts offering toasted biscuits…so cranky people have more to lament…and a toasted biscuit.
OMG – CFS would be brilliant.
I am pretty sure I have had CFS at a KFC in San Bernadino, March 2004. I could be wrong. I definitely had it at Popeye’s a couple of years ago, and it wasn’t bad for a fast food version. Good gravy too.
Not sure I see a problem–I like their chicken tenders, which are just boneless pieces of chicken breast, anyway. I’d love to try a thigh version of that. Boneless chicken is very easy when you’re driving, which is the only time I get KFC anyway. I’ll try it, even if it means being a “heathen.” [:p]
I have bought boneless thighs at the grocery store before. I do not know how they debone the thighs. I fried them the regular way and somehow they do not taste the same without the bone??? KFC in Knoxville is actually pretty good. Roz and I on occasion do their buffet and we are able to get fresh dropped chicken.

Sounds like they plan on turning out presssed chicken parts like Arby’s did with their beef long ago.
I just saw a commercial for it, and they’re advertising white or dark meat. Which means they’re using the exact same boneless/skinless chicken breasts and thighs I buy to eat at home. The only thing preventing me from trying it is it apparently only comes in original recipe, and I prefer the extra crispy. But I’d be willing to stop by there to see if I can get it in extra crispy. I like boneless chicken…leaves less trash to clean up.
KFC is going boneless with it’s chicken, I don’t know if you will be able to buy it bone in or not, but a boneless wing or leg??? KFBC, Kentucky Fried Boneless Crap!
Ewww. Just ewww. Maybe I just haven’t been to KFC in a while, or maybe they changed their formulas, or I’ve changed, but I just had an experience there that I wouldn’t care to repeat.
I wanted to try their boneless original recipe chicken, and it was weird–overspiced for my taste, but okay. I still much prefer their chicken tenders.
However, the side of mashed potatoes and gravy and the biscuit and the iced tea were all terrible–so not worth the calories, and I didn’t finish them.
But I digress. The boneless original recipe fried chicken was a miss for me. Anyone else??
