    Hello all ,

This coming Friday Sept 15th will be a special show .
    1- 2 pm on http://www.wtbq.com
We plan to spend the hour or most of it talking about ( i can’t tell you ) something that is happening the following day and to plug the roadfood website ( free plug , you can thank me later)

Coney Island Lou is scheduled to be in the studio
    We expect calls from
    John Fox and Akavar
Anyone else interested in talking roadfood just email me and we will set it up .
Now if we can only get Al The Mayor or Signman to call in and talk about the last Crabstock get together that would be cool !!

    Benzee,

Sorry that I did not call in. I thought that they wanted me to call from the road if we (Munchmobile) were out sampling hot dogs. I know that you mentioned that I could call in at the same time regardless, but I figured that the focus was on natural products (Shaklee). I listened to most of the show, and heard Roadfood mentioned toward the end. Thought it may have been too late to call at that time. I would be more than happy to call in next show.

    Hello Greygoast ,

Do not know why John did not call in . May have been a communications mix up .
The local guests all are in business or are there to promote their products , so I can see where you get those feeliongs from .
Before the show the on air DJ and Uncle Buck had a 10 minute discussion on the Hot Dog Tour and John , happenend about 545pm . Unfortunelty for those tuning in at 6 you missed it .

We will get some more mention of the tour and guests in the upcoming weeks .

Well, I listened to the entire show. It is a very interesting station, very spirited and high energy. Unfortunately, Mr. Fox did not call in although there was a brief mention of Roadfood near the very end.

While listening I explored the site, this is certainly a very different sort of station and I believe well worth exploring for people like me who have abandoned most commercial radio. I have bookmarked the station and will be listening to the live streams. For those who have not listened to it I would characterize it as small town radio and full of personality and possibilities.

By the end of the first half hour I did find the natural products lady quite annoying, however. She seemed hell bent to feature every product the company she represents in an old fashioned snake oil fashion. I was very much reminded of the movie "The Outlaw Josey Wales" when Josey confronts the snake oil salesman on the raft and after spitting tobacco juice on his pristine suit asks "How does it work on stains."

I did enjoy the chatter between Uncle Buck and the Doc and even the paid commercial spots which were primarily local and interesting in themselves. The bottom line with this station for me is that it is very old fashioned in a good way, with great heart and it will take you back to what radio once was. It is a keeper, especially if it keeps its Internet presence up.

    Benzee,
Don’t know if we will be going out tomorrow. Still awaiting word from Pete. We were supposed to go to New York, but will probably delay it so that everyone on the team can go. So we will either be off tomorrow or go to some local places. I’ll let you know when I find out. If I’m not going out, I will be listening to the show.

Guess I missed it. I was hoping for an archive section or a podcast for those that did miss it.
The station looks very interesting though and I will check out the live streaming feature.

I am always interested in good radio but in recent years it is getting harder to find. Commercial radio seems to be at its lowest point ever and the advertising revenue reflects this fact according to the latest statistics I have seen. Unless commercial radio can keep up with changing technology, I think it is doomed. Too few stations keep up, thus cementing their doom.

My idea of a great radio station is WAMC Northeast Public Radio. It is highly innovative and incorporates the latest technology and has no commercial spots other than simple mentions of "underwriters." Of course it is member supported radio, but I am very willing to pay for it and listen to little else these days. It features not only live streams available world wide but archived shows and podcasts as well. It does not get any better than this for my money.

WAMC covers most of the Northeast via repeaters and presents itself as a regional station rather than a local one. If public radio can do this, why can’t commercial radio?

If John is interested in such a venue I think I could convince the powers that be to do an interesting interview with him that could be heard after the original broadcast.

If anyone is interested in hearing this station , here is a link:

    Hello all ,
John Fox , New Jerseys foremost authority on Hot Dogs , in my opinion , was a guest on my radio show Tues evening.

The show " Prime Time with Uncle Buck and Dr. Litner " airs from 6- 7 pm on Tues on WTBQ 1110 am . or http://www.WTBQ.com

I’m a regular contributor and was able to interview John about Jersey Dogs and the upcoming Hot Dog Tour on Sepyt 16th .

For more info on the Jersey Tour go to the miscellaneous Foods section and there is a thread on the upcoming tour .

I want to thank John for appearing on the show and we hope to do it again next Tues with him possibly doing a live remote from one of his stops on the Munchmobile tour.

We talk about everything and anything on the show so any roadfooders want to call in just let me know .
