Update to my last message:  I just found the post on LearnHotDogs about this, so I’m going to give that a shot.  Thanks for all the info you’re putting out RJT, it’s a real help.

Where do you buy your 32oz clear cups at?

Websturant was the best option I could find because no one offered them local….

RJT – I haven’t settled on the recipe yet.   I’ve played around with the Rich SS and have found that about 1.5 oz of RSS to 6.5 oz water, with one whole lemon makes a pretty tasty drink, but that seems a little excessive considering I’m reading that you guys are getting 1 whole lemon to 32 oz.  I bought a hand juicer (small style), due to space constraints on the cart.  Where I’m planning to work I can’t have any tables, or anything that is not attached to the cart.  Space is at a premium.

I’m also looking at my cup supply at Sam’s and seeing that 22oz is the largest cold cups they carry in my club… so I’ll likely be serving a 20 oz lemonade.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

    gww

    Just my inexperienced 2 cents,

Would it possibly be worth the little extra money to snag a fancy cocktail shaker like this Might add to the flair of it.

Also are you pre-zesting those lemons to speed the process up?

Thanks for the info on the juicer. I believe I might just have to get one.

This may be a naive question, but is there any sanitary concern with the sugar?  If you boil the sugar and water (simple syrup) how long can you keep that at room temp, and how long in cold storage?  When you do the shaking, do you have to rinse out the mixing cup after every use, or can you reuse it?   (Lesson learned – don’t start testing Lemon Shake-up’s at 10 PM at night if you want to sleep! haha)

BTW – check with Big Lots out there in your area.  I just saw a large shaker (60 oz) on sale there for $19 today!  I might go back and pick it up after seeing some other prices as I’m looking around town…

gww, no issues to my understanding with simple syrup. It can “spoil” over time but it is a longer time than you would be using it. Check the web for other answers about simple syrup.

No I do not “rinse” after each use and with frequent use should not be an issue. Lemonade would be a very low risk item…..

I just confirmed today (a buddy bought one) that the Maxam Chrome Heavy-Duty Professional Juicer KTJUICE6 sold on Ebay from different sellers for around $80 shipped is the exact same juicer sold through Gold Medal that I paid $160 for. They call theirs a Gold Medal Model: 5317. They even gave me a “deal” and I have seen it even higher from Gold Medal. It is the exact same box and all.

I am not happy that I could have bought two for what I paid but if I can save some one else then great. Dont be fooled by the higher price in thinking it is of better quality, it is just higher priced.

RJT could we see some pics of your setup with the lemonade and all?
With a 2 parts sugar to 1 part water mix I’m not sure about your .06 per serving sugar cost. But I bet your still well under $1 per serving total cost. We use 1/4 cup sugar per 32oz lemonade for ours.

I left out one key detail. I make my lemonade in a round plastic 32 oz container with a screw top by Ziplock. These come in a two pack at any grocery store or Walmart. Put in ice, simple syrup, squeezed lemon, one half of lemon peel rind from lemon you just squezed, screw on the lid give it a good shaken (extra shake for show) and then take the lid off and pour it in the customers cup.

If you steep 20 tea bags to 3 cups of hot water…you make a concentrate. A splash or so to lemonade makes a nice refreshing Arnold Palmer.

Great breakdown this seems very worthwhile once you’ve got the speed down.
