I subscribed to Gourmet several years ago just for the Stern’s column. Recently it has run less frequently or just a page or two, so I let my subscription lapse in May. What have I missed here?

It seems that this particular issue was slow or erratically delivered in general. My mother[:X], in California, usually gets hers two weeks before I see it; but not this time. I suspect the delay is due to the special packaging required for the Roadfood "onsert."

For me its my last Gourmet. We were going to let it lapse with the editor transition, but my wife renewed until this year. I find it unreadable with all the ‘special advertising’ sections in each issue. I used to read it from front to back, now I just check for the Stern’s column, and put it down.

Our local grocery store finally upgraded enough to keep me from driving to Syracuse for special ingredients a few years ago, and now a lot of the recent recipes have ingredients I have to mail order. I just don’t like it anymore, it reminds me of a glossy womens coffee table fashion magazine.

    (I know, bitch, bitch, bitch)

This is a different opinion than I have heard from many. A lot of people do not like Gourmet as much as they used to as they claim it is now just an average and run of the mill food magazine. I find that the ingredients are very easy to get for most recipes. I like the more down to earth feel that the magazine now offers. What town do you live in?

I just checked the Gourmet website and there’s not even a mention of it. Is there any possibility that they’ll post it, or at least some excerpts?

[:I] We Roadfood people really are the cutting edge , no doubt about it. In fact, it is amazing how much Gourmet magazine has changed over the years, thanks in no small part to Ruth Reichl’s guidance as editor. I don’t think she’d mind if I revealed thatSwanky Frank’s was a fundamental part of her culinary education. I see that as a kind of Roadfood Cordon Bleu.

Just opened my Gourmet magazine and was so delighted to see the supplement which was included and entitled "A Guide to America’s Best Roadfood"………..good going! I feel that my husband and I were years ahead of the times when we realized that roadfood can be truly gourmet food!
