Hmmm….I don’t know if it worth a 300 mile detour, but there is no denying that this is great ice cream. I tried the cantaloupe, which was a first for me, and the black raspberry and loved them both. I also really enjoyed the old-time atmosphere and the enthusiam of the young employees.
Based on the RoadFood review we made a detour to Four Seas. WHile we loved the nostalgia of the place, especially the low counter with little blue stools, the ice cream itself was not so great. Super creamy, but not very much flavor. Cream is the overwhelming taste, which is not what one is looking for in a chocolate almond cone! So while we were glad to see it, I don’t think it is worth a detour, surely not 300 miles! There is way better ice cream out there.
I didn’t read his review, but I love the place.
I’m a little shocked to see the beloved Four Seas rated so poorly by Mr. Rushmore. We visited TWICE last time in the Cape—and declared it "the best ice cream we ever had"! The Chocolate Almond, Cranberry Sherbet and killer Hot Fudge Sundaes were simply amazing. Has something significantly changed? Is it not worth a 300 mile detour anymore? [:(]
