On our last trip to the Keys, our best meal of the entire south Florida trip was in Key West at Blue Heaven. Their grouper and yellow fin tuna, along with excellent sides were what justified the 45 minute wait for a table on a Monday evening.
Agreed, and don’t overlook the Lobster Benedict for breakfast. Another great local place is Hogfish Grill over on Stock Island.

Ah, Mon Ami, Ed–it has been reported that Monsieur Phillipe makes a very fine French Dip. Is it not so——
The proof is in the pudding—-the gravy actually. Are you really sailing from down town Downey to up town Florida. Great !!!See ya when you dock. What kind of boat?
Yes….as a veteran of many incidents with the beef, pork and especially the lamb dips there…..I have never had any at other places that even come close. And the hot mustard….OOH LA LA!
Well, 6 years ago I would have sailed there on an Islander 36 sailboat, but next week I’m going on a slightly larger boat–the Islander Princess. I think it’s a little more comfortable way to go through the Panama Canal. As for downtown Downey to Uptown St. Pete…..well maybe I’ll have drive a car from the ports. I can’t see the cruise ship detouring to St. Pete for lil’ old me!

I would be very careful in Florida.

Sorry to hear that, ancient mariner. IF I was flying in instead of sailing, I’d bring you a french dip from Phillipe’s the Original.

Julia Mae’s in Carrabelle is now closed, boat condos in that location
Lots of interesting restaurants in Fort Lauderdale. I like BO’s across the street for fish sandwiches more. I like the Hogfish grill on Stock Island, and did not think much of the food at the No Name Pub.
In a few weeks I’ll have about 5 hours to kill in Ft. Lauderdale. Could you tell me a bit more about these places and any others that might be good for lunch? Preferably easy to get to, between FLL and the cruise ship terminal. Taxi or bus will probably be the more of transport. Thanks.
