Hello All,
The remenant of the hurrican came over us yesterday and last night. The sky is still very gray this morning.
The trees were dancing quite a jig with the wind yesterday, and the ground is no longer thirsty.
We had some local flooding here in the middle part of the Shenandoah Valley, but nothing tragic that I’ve
hear of, thank God for that.
The hype did have people worried. We made sure we had the necessary items of batteries, battery radio, food, etc. (cigs and beer for me[:D]). I think we did lose a few tree branches from my old scyamores down in the bottoms, but they will be kindling for my fireplace.
Hope all were safe during this last hurricane. I know that the legacy of Katrina has made our local government very zealous. While I live in valley surrounded by the mountains way up here in Virginia, we
get leftovers of many hurricanes after it has hit land.
Take Care,
Fieldthistle
If you are seeing red x’s, then NOAA took those pics off their website.
Sorry…..
I used their links…..
I have had NOAA bookmarked for a long time.
Its the only thing I count on for any type of weather problem..
Even when I lived in Maine.. That is where I went for my forecast.
But ya cant help turning on the "FOX news channel" of Weather–Called The Weather Channel..
Want a Panic attack???.. turn to Fox News or The Weather Channel…
(didja get that?)
Take it I dont like FOX news either!
(sarcastic here)
My father moved to Florida 9 years ago and after the last 2 years he is ready to kill the weather channel. He gets his forecast from noaa, while weather channel and cnn had ernesto up to a cat 2 or 3 noaa had it a weak cat 1 with lots of rain in very small areas around the center.
i was with him last week when ernesto formed and the weather channel had everyone in the gulf scared poohless. People were cancelling their reservations for the labor day weekend cause they listened to the weaher channel and florida was going to be wiped off the face of the earth again.
you don’t even mention the words weather channel around him during hurricane season.
Last year i was in mexico beach florida when Katrina headed into the gulf and for a few days was headed towards the "Big Bend" area of Florida. The weather channel was predicting doom and gloom for us and noaa was predicting it to head west of us and boy did it ever!!
I love a good hurricane party but that one was nerve racking.
Is much better and more accurate.
I am glad yall only got some much needed rain.
Stay safe and have an adult beverage for me.
rain. rain go away, come again another day. One thing, being in the house today I got caught up on my laundry. Hope it’s not too bad tonight as Ernie comes ashore & the winds pick up. It should be somewhere between Roosy in Myrtle Beach & myself in Wilmington
And as to New Mexico not having snow, my sister would find that interesting, their vacation home is in Angel Fire a skiing mecca in New Mexico!![:0]

Actually the beaches are great… it’s just a long walk to the waterline.

Amazing…
I moved from Florida one year ago, ended up in South Carolina, and now STILL have hurricanes chasing me….
My daughter was working in the keys this summer and just weathered Ernesto. We had a wild couple of days trying to figure out the "stay or go" scenarios. She’s with a great group and they decided to stay, we just moved her flights back from today until Saturday.
Talked w/ a few folks in Charleston and the schools are closed. The bridges over the Ashley and Cooper rivers are also closed.

Do like me and move to New Mexico. In short order:1) No hurricanes
2) No tornadoes
3) No earthquakes
4) (most importantly) Very little chance of snow! You forgot the nothing green and no water part.
And 110 degree temps and rattlesnakes hiding in your shoes…And skin so dry its like leather…
Ok..
The biggest joke on the radio today is:
"""The weather Channel has an orgasm every time there is a tropical storm.
They thrive on making the public uneasy and scared.
They have MORE IMPACT on the American people than CNN!"""
Ho.. Hum..
How did Jim Cantore get to Myrtle Beach from Miami Beach so fast?

Not staying where I work.. thats for sure…At least not when I left at 11 PM…Didnt see any TV lights on the beach…
Maybe he is at the resort next door..
I just think I will stick to.. Well… I really dont know…Maybe the NOAA forecast online from now on.

Great picture, LOL.

I am glad that I do not live in the area. It would be awful dreading each weather report this time of the year.
I am glad I live in the protected area of the Tennessee Valley where I only get Tornadoes[}:)]
