    hi guys

for those that dont know me im thenoob, im up here in vancouver canada and operate 4 hot dog carts.  I am expanding yet again and building a trailer.  My big question is this:

    1.  This is my first time building a trailer with a hood.  I have built several carts before.  My question is, will a restaurant hood work in a trailer& .or are they built differently??  Im going to buy used, as new ones are crazy pricey when i could buy a solid used unit for 1/4 of the price.
I dont know exactly how they work and what kind of exhaust is needed for the top?  i see lots of units with these huuuuge round chimneys on top and need to know exactly what i need.
I have having a charbroiler inside and doing raw burgers so obviously i need a solid exhaust/fan setup.

any info would help a ton!

you need at least a 6″ overhang from all equipment… which is funny cuz I installed my grill and totally forgot that and now have to move my grill.

    hey wild dog

how much overhang did you have to have on both sides of your appliances?  I’m having a 3 ft charbroiler and possibly a small flat griddle inside a 20 ft airstream that im building.

Regular restaurant hoods may be too tall to put in a short ceiling trailer. The good ones for trailers have full sides and back but are short in the front for your head clearance.
You should be able to use a full restaurant fan with it as long as you have the electrical on board to power it.

The hood you will need depends on the inside height of your trailer. You are going to be looking for a ” concession ” style hood. You can check http://www.hoodmart.com I bought just my hood for 800 and bought an automatic shutter fan and installing it on the side wall of my food truck. much cheaper than buying an 800 chimney bell. that is nothing but over kill at 3500 cfm. All you really need is about 1800 cfm realistically. The other company is called Acity discount, they are a huge seller on ebay and do custom work as well.

GL and post lots of pics.
