Aren’t they cute? Separated at birth?
There is a strong resemblance between Danny and Elaine….nice catch!
Hi Rocky –
Also great seeing you again…last time was at Jane & Michael’s talk at Harry Carey’s! Very nice to meet Ian and it looked like he enjoyed the day!
Strings Ramen Shop Lakeview – 919 West Belmont which is a few doors west of Ann Sather – is the name of the Ramen Shop my son enjoys.
Danny will need permission from his mentor, The Wanderingjew AG (After Guest).
Thanks for allowing Ian and I to tag along, we had a great time catching up with old friends and meeting new ones. I was asked several times what my favorite bite was. All the food we had was really good but my favorites were the stuffed potato pancakes at Ann Sather (thanks to Greg for ordering and sharing those), the outstanding fried shrimp at Red Hot Ranch (thanks to Irisarbor for sharing), the Lechon Burger at Boba Burger and the Shrimp and Noodles at Ruby’s Fast Food. Some day I would love to go back there and try the buffet, at $8.45 it may be one of the best deals in Chicago!
ChiTownDiner could you ask Mike the name of the ramen shop in Logan Square, in my food induced coma, I seemed to have forgotten it.
Irisarbor I believe that Taco Vida is the name of the restaurant that you were touting, correct? Where is that located?
Danny I look forward to seeing you in Elkhart and doing a mini-burger tour!
Buddy Roadhouse thanks for planning and coordinating all the stops you really put together a winning line up!!
Buffetbuster I hope you and Mariton had easy travels home and arrived safely. It is always great to see you guys and I look forward to seeing you again in the future! It’s a shame that we won’t be able to cross paths in Texas, I hope you have a great trip with Cousin Johnny.

Buffetbuster is missing….anyone see him after he was under the counter “resting” at Bob-O’s?
Skip Ann Sather and have a much better breakfast https://fahlstromsfreshfish.com 3-1/2 blocks to the west…
Looking forward to seeing everyone. I am bringing my 13 year old son, Ian, so he can learn the ways of roadfood from the masters. We will be arrive on time and hungry!
You know how to get here, right? Draw a straight line from Elkhart to the south side of Chicago, and try not to fall asleep on the way.
Rocky, glad to have you and 13 year old Ian join us. It’ll be nice to have someone with an appetite for a change.

I may have found a Hot Fudge Sundae alternative that ticks off a lot of boxes. http://villagecreamery.com Village Creamery is a Filipino owned operation serving house made Ice Cream. Their menu includes many unusual flavors, some of them reflective of the owners’ Filipino heritage. Jackfruit, https://s3-media2.fl.yelpcdn.com/bphoto/Z6MYwxQIyok4Smnq4RbCAA/o.jpg Lychee, https://s3-media3.fl.yelpcdn.com/bphoto/Azg1s9Pi3HOTm_0Q2NFTyA/o.jpg Ube (purple yam), and durian are just some of the “outside-the-box” flavors available. They also serve https://s3-media2.fl.yelpcdn.com/bphoto/tPy0n18xaFLgSoQtULQ8Lg/o.jpg Halo-Halo (shaved ice sweetened with Asian fruits, nuts, and beans, the drizzled with evaporated and condensed milk, flan, tapioca, and ice cream).
Also, there’s a time advantage in going to Village Creamery because they’re on the way from Boba Burger to Bob-O’s Hot Dogs. By not going to 26th Street, we’re shaving at least 30 minutes off our travel time, making it easier for Cliff & Mariton to get to Midway on time.
If this is of interest, the new rundown looks like this:
9:00am-Ann Sather’s, location TBA
10:30am-Red Hot Ranch
3057 N. Ashland Avenue, Chicago
The weather forecast for Sunday keeps getting worse, so I’m just gonna make the call for the Ashland Ave. location.
Noon-Ruby’s Filipino Fast Food
3740 W. Montrose Ave, Chicago
1:30pm Boba Burger
8530 Waukegan Rd, Morton Grove
2:45pm Village Creamery
8000 Waukegan Rd, Niles
4:00pm-Bob-O’s Hot Dogs
8258 W. Irving Park Rd, Chicago
5:45pm-Midway Airport
Let me know if this works and we’ll lock it in.

I think I spotted a few Pinkertons in the background.

What instrument do they play?
I thought they all played the tambourine. You need a good five or six in every major orchestra.
Often imitated, never duplicated, so misunderstood! National polling indicates more people play Air Tambourine than Air Guitar!
More than Air Cowbell?
A close 2nd!

We’re available to join you any or all of those days.

What part of Chicagoland will be home to these shenanigans?
I hope you make it to Hoosier Mama. Why bother coming to Chicago otherwise.
I may have some time that weekend. We’re in the middle of contract negotiations and there’s a possibility I’ll be on strike. If so, I won’t know when I’ll need to be back at the bargaining table.
