I know this has probably been addressed, I just have not stumbled across it, but what about good bowling alley food? Especially in Los Angeles? There’s an alley on Venice on the Westside with a decent coffee shop, and there used to be a good one at Little Tokyo Bowl. The shop at the alley in Gardena is pretty OK, 99% Nisei clientele.
As for Drive-In food… Well, we have almost no drive-in theatres left here in LA. But when I go, I bring my own pate, cold pasta salad, brie, bread, apple, strawberries, and champagne! What I love about drive-ins is the privacy. I can drink, smoke, talk to the screen, whatever. And what I bring to the party beats the hell out of hot dogs and popcorn, you know? It’s also nice that you can see a first run pic for cheap, and not pay for parking, and with the newer FM systems, you can control the volume on your own radio. But I guess home theater stuff has killed off this bit of fun. You also get to have some retro quality time with your girlfriend.
