Hey Paul, I’ve got this hooked up to a 46" sony lcd (1080p) in my bedroom….amazing picture!
No bugs on this system UV…Works like a charm. You’ll have to show me where you’re getting the info on version 2. Sony made their PS3 with the capabilities to download and upgrade as things change..can’t see them abandoning all the users when they have no plans to change the core of the PS3 for at least 5 years.
I delayed buying the Blue Ray until a couple of days ago when I found out that Blue Ray was the apparent winner. I am having it installed by HHGregg. I am also buying the Wi or whatever primarily for my grandsons who have a blast with the games.
I bought a Panasonic 1080P 50 inch and a 42 inch just so they could accomodate the Blue Ray.
I have watched the Blue Ray on a 1080P and the clarity is fantastic.
All three of my current TV’s are plasma but I am buying a LCD for the deck due to the outdoor lighting.

Blu Ray is the winner, but now is not the time to purchase. Currently they have version 1.x available, which is NOT upgradeable to the up and coming version. Version 2.x will be, so it’s best to hold off for the time being. (version 1.x still has too many bugs in it).
I think so. Looks to me like Sony is going to finally win one and I must say I really like blu-ray. BUT, I bought a Sony PS3 for my player…can’t play any of the games but it has wi-fi so any updates to the firmware/software are a piece of cake.
Any body else make the leap…or bet on HD-DVD?
Costco recently had a three-seat recliner chair set on sale for $1500. It looked like three individual large recliner chairs linked together with ‘common arms’. They were labeled "Home Entertainment Seating". I wondered about the "Three" symbolism, rather than "Four" or "Two"??
My brother remodeled his large family room into a "Movie House" arrangement, with tiered seating and a large popcorn popper and soda vending machine on one side. The seats (7 of them) are like first-class seating on an airplane. When he hits the "Go" button on his remote the lights dim and the system activates. I consider this "over the top"! But then I don’t watch many movies these days….I am too busy editing Frito Posts on a friendly website ![}:)][8)]
I believe Disney is showing a Goofy cartoon about buying a home theatre system before the movie, National Treasure: the Secret Book. It’s a riot and a little over the top.

Sadly, that is often the case.

Mike S. as for a sound hook up, IMHO, simple is better. I have friends who have receivers with umpteen options that are supposed to make it sound like you’re in a hall, or great hall, or small room, concert, rock concert, singing in the shower etc. They sit and push those darn buttons searching for the best sound, and one is just worse then the other. I’m just waiting for my 5 year old 50" analog set to die. Then It’ll be replaced with a 55" Sony DLP set. But that means I have to upgrade satellite reciver and dvd player.
Of more immediate need is a new stereo a/v system. My current 5.1 system has lost the DVD channel and the tape deck channel. Guess I need to e-mail EdSails and see what he recommends.
Paul, sounds like you have a nice setup.
I don’t know, I’ve actually gotten less "techy" over the years. All of the pictures are so good now, I sort of went "middle of the road" I guess and got a 720p 40" Sony Bravia LCD. I’ve got just a few High Def channels with basic cable (I mostly watch Netflix) and they look as good as anything I’ve seen.
I sold my old 55" Mitsubishi rear projection which when hooked up to high def satellite was really very nice, but the thing was just a beast.
I’ve got the big Def Tech BP2000 speakers up front, some smaller Def Tech in back and a Monitor center channel. Topped off with enough power for the police to show up…I told the officer Led Zeppelin was supposed to be loud.[:I]
Uncle Vic, I ain’t on top but I just try to keep the grandsons happy.
I think that I will enjoy the Super Bowl on Sunday night though. I will be doing chicken wings fried in lard with some special sauce.
High def on a 50 inch with 1080P should be very good.
