Biscuit Shack
Review by: Michael Stern
The biscuits are swell: low-rise, gnarled-top rounds with buttermilk tang. They’re opulent enough that fingers glisten when you’ve picked one up. Fine with no adornment whatever, they also are well-suited for sandwiching anything from steak o’ lean or country ham to salmon patties or sliced tomatoes. You can have them topped with sausage gravy or as part of a full breakfast with eggs, grits, and meat of choice.
The Biscuit Shack is worth a detour for ambience as much as for biscuits. About the size of a single-wide manufactured home, it is an out-of-the way diner frequented by regulars who add enchanting local color with booth to booth chats about weather, politics, favorite television shows, and local road closures.
The lunch menu includes burgers, pork chops, country-fried steak, fried chicken, and Thursday-through-Saturday catfish specials.
