Sheila’s Baking Co.
Review by: Michael Stern
Sheila’s Baking Co. began as a food truck and in June, 2020, opened its brick-and-mortar location. Wherever the food truck parked, you could count on Sheila running out of donuts by mid-morning. We trust that the new location will mean that the supply will last longer. These are donuts you want to buy by the dozen to take back home or to the workplace and share the joy. Once a person has discovered Sheila’s, it’s a siren song that demands return visits.
They’re handsome donuts, indeed — big and bright with high-quality icing. They’re lighter and more chewy than traditional cake donuts, but not nearly as featherweight as Krispy Kreme.
Among the highlights are a brown sugar-stuffed cinnamon roll iced with brown-butter cream cheese frosting, known as a Caramelli; sugared peach donut; spicy apple fritter with a vanilla glaze. And there are specials, like the Mexican hot chocolate cinnamon roll. To go with these beautiful pastries, Sheila serves coffee from a nearby Roadfood favorite, Stone Roastery.
On-line ordering is encouraged.
