Cinnamon Roll

A cinnamon bun or cinnamon roll is similar to a sticky bun, but not so sticky and, usually, nutless. It is a round of sweet pastry coiled with with veins of buttery cinnamon sugar, sometimes frosted on top. Most cinnamon buns are too big to lift from the plate by hand, requiring a knife and fork. In Snohomish, Washington, the Maltby Cafe serves a cinnamon roll that literally is the size of a dinner plate, lolling in an abundance of white icing. While cinnamon buns commonly are a breakfast pastry, some fried chicken restaurants in the Midwest offer baskets of small cinnamon buns as part of dinner.
