Bunn Thai Bistro

We can’t think of a better way to enjoy Grover Beach, California, than to watch the sun dip into the ocean with the sand in your toes and Thai take-out on your beach blanket. Bunn Thai Bistro offers authentic culture and cuisine only a two- minute cruise from the drive-on beach.

An multi-page menu offers everything from drunken noodle to curry. We ordered and chatted up the super friendly service staff, who made sure we had enough sauces and cutlery while they took their time preparing our meals.

Spring Rolls were large and came with fresh vegetables and a sizable chunk of shrimp and avocado on top: simple, tasteful and delicious. Aside from a strong mint taste, the eight-piece appetizer was crisp and a great base for the sesame dipping sauce. Our additional appetizer of chicken satay was fantastically flavorful, a lighter meal, and so good with its creamy peanut sauce.

For a taste of peanut-sauce fusion, be sure to try Pad Thai with your choice of meat, veggies, or shrimp. This dish also came in a generous portion size with plenty of added shrimp. Though a bit heavier on oyster sauce, this Thai specialty still tasted authentic with slightly sticky noodles and sautéed veggies.

Another large serving, this time of the Thai Fried Rice, was also a great choice: plenty of flavor, sweet and savory with tender chicken strips and just greasy enough.

Even with plenty of other take-out beach options, you can’t go wrong with authentic Asian foods and a gorgeous sunset. Stop by Bunn Thai to meet some friendly people, enjoy a great sit down meal, or pack up your favorite dish to-go.
