Tubby’s Ice Cream
Review by: Stephen Rushmore Jr.
Located on a quiet stretch of Route 133 next to the Wayne Post Office, Tubby’s has been churning out the some of Maine’s best ice cream since 2001. In addition to a full menu of burgers, lobstah rolls, and phenomenal hot dogs (with grilled, buttered buns in true New England style), Tubby’s boasts unique ice cream flavors with high-end ingredients that belie this humble shop. Although a few benches are available by the order counter, regulars are more likely to be found sitting out back by the lake.

True lob stag lovers will be in heaven with the lob stag rolls. I got a Papa T (large, generous, heaping mounds of the freshest lobster) in a toasted roll and it was almost too much for me to eat. (Almost!) Was it pricey? When you think of the time and effort to crack the lobster and prepare it fresh, I think it was a fair price. Worth every penny of the $45.99 for a full 1/2 pound of meat.Of course, the Momma T is equally delicious in a smaller portion for $24.99 with a full 1/4 pound of meat. Served with mayonnaise or melted butter. Such a treat to start off our vacation week with this meal. Thank you!!!!!
