Waffles in the form of thick Belgians are a staple of cafe breakfast menus, but after breakfast you don’t see much of them … with one exception: at soul food restaurants, where either Belgians or small-tread waffles become an eggy trivet for pieces of fried chicken. This is a dish you find at breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the main difference being that an eater is more likely to pour on syrup at the morning meal and gravy after that. Either is correct!
