Boston Cream Donut

The basic elements of a Boston cream pie – pastry, custard, and chocolate – are nicely reconfigured as a holeless donut. The donut itself can be sliced to hold the cream or the cream can be piped in, and the chocolate should be smooth and all-enveloping. We’ve never found one outside the Northeast.
