Component Coffee Lab is a welcoming coffee house and roastery located inside a historic building that once held a planing mill in downtown Visalia, California. With exposed brick walls, warming skylights, and workspace seating along with a leather couch for lounging, the environment is one that invites you to stay a while.
Breakfast is served only on the weekends from 7:00 am to 11:00 am and plates are limited, so go early if you want your first pick. Ingredients are sourced from the local farmers market on Saturday mornings and they are used to create over-the-top donuts and four tempting menu items.
Start with a donut, made in-house and fried to perfection with a crunchy outside and airy, buttery interior. They are coated in a rich glaze along with a seasonal twist of toppings. The Sweet Potato Pie comes piled with roasted marshmallows.
All the menu items are good choices, but the Chicken & Waffle…Cone can’t be missed. A thin, soft waffle is folded into a cone and filled with fluffy scrambled eggs. The eggs are topped with chopped buttermilk fried chicken made from tender white meat that is surrounded by a crisp coating. The whole dish is drizzled with a sweet maple bourbon syrup.
The Breakfast B’rrito has the special touch of being grilled so that the flour tortilla forms a crisp layer for a welcomed chewy bite. It’s stuffed full of beer battered potatoes, fried eggs, and bacon. Grilled pasilla peppers and onions add caramelized vegetable sweetness. The filling is then drizzled with smoky chipotle crema before it’s wrapped in the tortilla.
A variety of coffee drinks are available to pair with breakfast, from speciality pour-overs to espresso drinks, including chilled espresso tonic.
Inside seats can fill up fast with folks catching up on their laptops, but there is also plenty of outdoor seating covered by sunshades, making this an ideal space for groups large and small.
