Cooking the shrimp with the garlic for a minute and then bringing it all to a boil, followed by a 15 minute simmer will result in mushy, overcooked shrimp.

Someone commented that shrimp can’t be cooked 15 minutes. It can if they’re large/jumbo shrimp. I was a professional cook and also worked on a Gulf shrimp boat for several years. If you’re making an etoufee or a creole that sauce will protect your shrimp. Always add last and barely simmer. I really love this show and am enjoying it so much.

Shrimp being cooked 15 minutes? No way that’s correct. They would be inedible.

I agree, cook as instructed but add the shrimp at the end and cook them in the reduced sauce for a few minutes, tops.

Sazon is a granular condiment that comes in pre-measured amounts in individual packets – like sugar or Stevia. You can buy it by the box in the Hispanic foods aisle of any grocery store.
