Jucy Lucy
Jucy Lucy, aka Juicy Lucy, is an inside-out cheeseburger, meaning the cheese is completely secreted inside the meat. As the beef cooks, the lode of cheese inside melts. American cheese is the most common ingredient, but jack or Swiss cheese is possible; and the cheese can be supplemented by peppers, bacon, olives, or mushrooms. It is a Minneapolis dish, invented in 1954. Both Matt’s Bar and the 5-8 Club, a good 3 miles apart on Cedar Avenue, stake a claim as its inventor.
