Swiftwater Cafe

Review by: Roadfood Team

Excellent food with an outstanding view

The Swiftwater Cafe overlooks Whittier Harbor and scenic Prince William Sound. Sit inside on stools at the counter, or dine outdoors for a stunning view of the harbor and mountains. It’s the perfect place for hungry anglers to kick back, get some great food, and watch the fleet coming and going.

What should I eat at The Swiftwater Cafe?

You will dine on fresh seafood and creamy chowder. Smoked prime rib is a weekend specialty. The clam chowder is rich and creamy and loaded with clams and locally grown potatoes from the Matanuska Valley. The fish and shrimp are fresh out of the Sound and are lightly breaded with panko and fried. Other seafood items include peel & eat shrimp, crab cakes, calamari and seafood chowder. The proprietors are also the chefs who make delicious smoked prime rib on the weekend, along with BBQ baby back ribs.

What does The Swiftwater Cafe look like?

The walls on the inside are covered with pictures of shipwrecks and Alaska memorabilia from years gone by, along with harpoons and whale baleen. Fishing nets and buoys hang overhead. Seating inside is at counters with stools (for sharing the One That Got Away Story with fellow anglers). On the outside deck there is a beautiful view of the harbor and mountains.
