PapaJoe,
should i wait til the monkeys ripen?[}:)]
Did I already say that eating other primates is not a good idea? It IS how AIDS got started in Humans. Eating green monkies in Africa that is.
Joe
A lot of these things I’ve already had. I tend to shy away from the organ meats due to mad-cow/scrapie/creudzfeldt-jacob disease. I won’t do rodents due to their high disease rates and bats are often rabid.

I sent that recipe to a friend of mine a couple years back and she made it also..
But.I realize some of the recipes have odd names, and are just adapted for shock value..
But I am sure people do eat them also…

Here is another list to choose from…..[xx(]
You Americans are so provincial!
[:D]
By the way, have you ever been exposed to the lovely aroma of chitterlings being cooked?
Yes, I have. My grandfather had a farm that raised pigs and we had countless pig roastings, and he cooked just about everything on the pig; including chitterlings.
I do understand the people in other countries and other clutures eat things that we here in the US don’t eat. I guess I’m not "cultered" enough to eat dog and cat even if I were in a country where this is practiced. But given the fact, that if I was starving to death I would eat just about anything, I commend anyone who can eat something that is our of our "norm". Kodos to those that do.

I’ve had the distinct pleasure of attending the Chitlin strut in Salley SC one year. The aroma of the place was most interesting ! [xx(]
I like fried chitlins with lots (emphasis on lots) of hot sauce. I do not like them boiled.
As for the original list. I’ve had many of them and would try/sample most everything else on the list. With the possible exception of dog and cat. I’d have a hard time with those.
A number of years ago while hunting with my Uncle, we killed a racoon and took it home and cooked it. It was very fatty but not all that bad tasting.

I’ve eaten all of it except for human and balut. If we were in a bad situation…don’t turn your back to me.A few to add…beating cobra heart, done that one in Hong Kong.
Nutria…huge rat common in eastern NC.
Very common in Louisiana. I have seen a bunch of those rascals. I think they offer a bounty for them, or at least they use to before katrina.

Michael – you mean to say that you would eat Dog and Cat, but would NEVER eat chitlins again. Hard to imagine. I just couldn’t possibly imagine that anyone in the Western World would eat domestic animals. To me, this is very, very sick. I have a dog as do millions of other people, and I just can’t see eating them. Am I wrong, I don’t think so.
I’ve eaten both dog and cat. Monkey, too. In some cultures these are common foods, and I’ve eaten them when I was around those cultures. Now, I can understand someone thinking as you do, but to insist that people who eat these things as part of their normal diet must be "very, very sick" is wrong.
I can’t help wondering whether there are any people on the face of the Earth who might consider those who eat the flesh of any animal sick. Oh, of course, there are lots of people like that. I believe they’re called members of PETA, which I believe stands for People Eating Tasty Animals.
I’ve had dogs all my life, and at one point we had six cats in our home. I’ve never eaten one of my dogs or cats. On the other hand, roast leg of Chesapeake Bay reriever doesn’t sound too bad.
