Hope you can access these sites! Dino’s Restaurant is in there too! It’s Italian and VERY good! Been around in Worcester for a VERY long time! Happy eating! KokomoJoe
Here are 2 websites that list things to do in Worcester. Broadmeadow and Wachusett Audobon sanctuaries are both great! And a drive and/or hike up Wachusett mountain this fall will be gorgeous! Pick a clear day and enjoy the view from the top! Week days are less crowded! There’s another site I’ll try to get in another message! Happy eating! KokomoJoe
OK now here is a website you should try: Dinesite.com Then go to Worcester MA and check out some restaurants. When you look them up, just send a message here and ask if it’s one I’d recommend…or someone else. Also the addresses and phone numbers are there for the ones I all ready listed. Now as for things to do in the Worcester area there is plenty. And you don’t have to spend a lot. I’m trying to get some web sites into this message and am having trouble! Will try another message! TTFN Happy eating! KokomoJoe
Thanks for the reply KokomoJoe…..
I noticed that Shrewsbury st. is mainly restaurants…too many to count. I like Italian food on occasion but the one thing I noticed looking for places to eat that most are Italian around here and would enjoy other foods more. I am from Fl. but might be relocating here. I would love to find some things to do around here again having to keep the budget in mind.
Got a chance to try George’s Coney Island. Loved the "old" place. Simple yet fun. Got 2 dogs with chili, mustard and onion and a beer. Hot dogs were dry but chili great. For some reason I can’t help but feel that no matter how the dogs are this is a great place to eat.
Had errands to run in the Webster Sq. area and not much time so I stopped at "Long Island" hot dog. I hope that is the name. It’s was in the Webster Sq. Plaza. Got 2 Chili dogs, FF and a Lg Pepsi for $5.99
plus tax and tip. Dogs were great and so where the fries. I would say that the dogs were better than Coney Island. But can understand why Coney is the place to go.
YES…The "Boulevard Diner" is great! Also at Webster Square in Worcester (there are a bizzilion Squares in Worc.) is "The Webster House" VERY good food(some Greek) and reasonable prices. It’s on Webster St. in Worcester. Shrewsbury St. where you went to Blvd Diner is Worcester’s own "Restaurant Row" now! Watch out tho some $$$$$$! My daughter says "Rhino" is good but a little pricey. And there are lot’s of Italian there but they are GREAT! Didn’t I read you’re not fond of It.? On Water St. in Worcester is "The Bway" or the Broadway which is "diner" type food. VERY good food and prices! I believe they are also open for breakfast.Water St. also has a high concetration of Jewish Deli stuff and bagels! Excellent on a Sunday morning! If you like Chinese go to "Chopsticks" at Webster Square! Great food! Also…do you want to know some "things to do" in the Worcester area? The fall is so beautiful here! Let me know! Now…are you familiar w/ "Trader Joe’s" grocery store? There is one literally down the street from the Med center! This is THE BEST food store you ever want to shop in!!!! Let me know if you’re interested!Where are you from anyway? Did I miss that? LOL Happy eating! KokomoJoe
Thanks for the great suggestions decisions, decisions. Well I have enough time that I will be able to try some of these places, can’t wait.
Went to the Blvd. Diner on Wednesday night. Got to enjoy the ambiance of a "Worcester Diner". There was five of us that went. Have met a lot of great people here. Two had Liver and Onions and declared them delicious, one burger and fries, deemed excellent, one had chicken soup and a sausage sandwich viewed as great. Myself I had a pastrami sandwich with fries. My pastrami was good, nice and tender and juicy but too salty for my liking. The bread is out of this world soft and slightly sweet. Being around 11:30pm in the middle of the week it was not busy but not empty. I got a kick out of the way we were served, they just reached over the counter with our plates and we just grabbed them without leaving our seats, gives new meaning to "boarder house reach". The staff was great. The menu choices were abundant, anyone no matter how fussy is sure to find something they like. The prices are really low for the amount and quality of food. Everyone raved. I just happen to not like salty food but with something like pastrami that is a gamble. Over all I would say this place is a place to eat. Total with the 5 meals, 4 sodas, tax and tip was $45.00 plus change, can’t be beat.
OK: "George’s Coney Island Hotdog" is an institution and a MUST in Worcester, 158 Southbridge St., not far from UMA Med Center. And right around the corner from the med center is a small chain called "The Picadilly Pub" which is very good and has very resonably priced dailey specials. They have great fish and chips and meatloaf too! Oh…hubby just reminded me,again just down the street from the med center is GREAT Mid eastern food: "El Basha" on the corner of Lake Ave and Rte. 9 just over the bridge at Lake Quinsigamond. And on Highland St. Worcester is "The Boyton" another institution(similar to a diner w/ great dailey specials) in the city! Then there’s the "Millbrook Restaurant" on Millbrook St. off of Goldstar Blvd, and YES again another Worcester institution, simialr to diner food w/ great prices and great dailey specials!Their whole fried clams are great. They are probably expensive now because of the red tide that hurt the clams early in the season. And don’t miss "O’Connor’s Irish Pub" in Worcester out on West Boylston St. RTE 12.That’s about 5 mi. from UMA Med Center. We LOVE O’Connor’s! We’ve been there several times for "St. Paddy’s Day"! Happy eating! KokomoJoe
If you want great seafood go to "Coral Seafood" on Green St. Worcester. It’s not far from where you are at the hospital. I’ve spent much time at UMA Med Center! Will write more! Happy eating! KokomoJoe
UMASS on Lake Ave. I do have a car and I am willing to travel to surrounding towns for a good meal. Makes for a refreshing break.
While riding the elevator at the hospital and my stomach making loud noises I received some pretty strange looks from other passengers. So I decided to just come out and ask the question. Where’s a good place to get a decent fish and chip dinner and a cocktail. Had a fish craving.
I ended up at "The Other Place Pub" on rt.70 in Boylston (I think).
Had one excellent order of fish and chips, large portion of Haddock, crispy batter and not at all greasy. Most important moist and flaky inside. FF’s were great too but couldn’t eat them all, stuck with the fish and nibbled the fries. Also had a great salad with the best HOUSE dressing I have ever had. I think it had a hint of cranberry. And I had one heck of a MyTy. Excellent meal and I plan on going back a few more times to try other menu items.
Very reasonable prices. Total with meal, beverage, tax and tip roughly $20.00. Worth every penny. Oh and the service was great.
Which hospital in Worcester? And do you have wheels? I can help you out…I think! Happy eating KokomoJoe
Haven’t been to Worcester in ages but you are in the land of the original Worcester lunch car company. There should be a variety of diners in Worcester housed in those original lunch cars. Wander around a bit and ggod luck!!JAMESB
You’ve got to go to George’s Lunch for a hot dog, or better yet to look at the big mustard dripping hot dog sign.
I am here in Worcester MA for about 3 months. I will be here to visit someone in the hospital. And I am looking for places other than the hospital to eat. Most if not all my meals will be eaten out. My budget is limited. And I do not care too much for Italian food. Any sugesstions would be appreciated
