    Yeah, that is what I’m talking about!!! I have to have the crispy skin. I only microwave potatoes if I am going to fry them because nuking them cuts about 10 minutes off the fry time.

    In a pinch,any are ok with us…with kids,we use a lot of Instand mashed…the new Yukon Gold from costco are good!!!!!

    I might be alone on this, but I consider sweet potato french fries an offense. Usually I get a lot of heat for saying that, but that’s how I feel

    Microwaved or baked in foil, the results are similar: a potato that’s steamed rather than baked in dry heat. It’s not awful if you start with good-tasting potatoes, but "not awful" doesn’t compare with a glorious baker pierced multiple times with a fork (to encourage the steam to escape the tuber) and then cooked naked in the oven. Crisp skin, dry flaky interior – wonderful!

    I pretty much agree; microwave "baked" potatoes are a far bigger crime than foil wrapped.

    I love it when you are in a diner and ask the waitress if the mashed potatoes are instant. If they do not answer, I then ask what potato she would suggest. Nine times out of ten, she says "Go with the French fries…………..you will be happier."[;)]

    It had to be instant mashed potatoes..A no brainer. Just an awful product.
