Yes, Pardo is still doing Saturday Night Lifeless, even though I don’t know why he bothers ( must be the money. ) I can’t believe how far downhill SNL has gone in the past three or four seasons. Abysmal writing and a mediocre cast ( especially Kristen Wiig… talk about a “one trick pony” ) are killing the show, and Lorne Michaels appears to be too preoccupied with turning out bad SNL spinoff movies to do anything about it. A sad situation.
Does Don Pardo still do SNL ??? I haven’t been compelled to watch (and/or tape) the show in decades.
Longtime Wheel of Fortune announcer Charlie O’Donnell passed away at the age of 78 last Sunday, apparently of heart failure. O’Donnell was the voice of the show for 27 years; he announced the first five years of Wheel when Chuck Woolery hosted and Susan Stafford was the “letter turner”, and he also had been with the show for the past 22 years, working with Pat Sajak and Vanna White. For the foreseeable future, Jeopardy! announcer Johnny Gilbert and former The Price is Right announcer Rich Fields are going to be handling the announcing duties on Wheel until a permanent replacement is chosen. Charlie had a great baritone voice and will be greatly missed by the show’s fans, myself include. With Charlie’s passing, almost all of the great game show announcers of the past 40 years ( Johnny Olson, Kenny Williams, Jay Stewart, Johnny Jacobs etc. ) have left us, which has me rather concerned about 90 year-old Don Pardo. R.I.P., Mr. O’Donnell.
