My intention was to make glazed salmon and green beans with herb butter, but then mom didn’t want to eat. So I ate a big bowl of Reese’s peanut butter puffs cereal with vanilla almond milk. I’ve spent the day in my kitchen making stuff for a picnic with the guy tomorrow: smoked gouda and ham pasta salad, loaded baked potato salad, sweet & sour tomato and cucumber salad, white sangria, and lemon bars. We’re picking up a bucket of chicken to go with it.
Holy smokes! That’s no picnic……..that’s a FEAST! Sounds great……..have fun!!!!
Enchiladas look great!!!
Yesterday I had the most delicious bourbon burger from the Walnut Brewery. It’s topped with crispy onion and a JD bourbon sauce. Yum!
Check Costco on Friday. That’s usually when they have the special seafood kiosk set up. Every Costco I’ve ever been to has this on Friday and Saturday. In addition to crab legs they usually have shrimp, scallops, lobster tails, clams, mussels, etc.
made pork cutlets last night, and tonight homemade pizza…but from store bought dough.
So true. we use our standard meatball recipe for sunday gravy……yours looks gorgeous!!!
I love the brick description. When I was a kid I thought spinach always came in a brick.
So any of you ham cookers going to do a ham loaf? I’ve been interested in doing one since it was mentioned some time back. I want to know how YOU make them! That’s all of you. [:)]
It’s a really easy recipe.
1lb. ground ham
1lb. ground pork
1C crushed Corn Flakes
S&P (easy on the salt…..the ham is already a little salty)
Mix everything like you would for meatloaf. I like small, individual loaves…….this will make 6. Or you could put it into a loaf pan and make one large one.
For the individual ones I make a glaze that I spoon on after about 10 mins. in the oven:
1C brown sugar
1/4t. ground mustard
2T cider vinegar
Just mix it all together. Bake the individual ones @400 for about 30 mins. One large loaf would probably take 1 hour.
Definitely making ham loaf! We love it!
Didn’t make it to the grocery store AKA The Market.
Spent all afternoon trying to get to Lowe’s, in Lowe’s and trying to get out of Lowe’s. All the streets were blocked.
I was at the freeway exit right after an ultralight aircraft crashed right there! The world stopped with me along with it.
They pulled the woman out of the aircraft alive and rushed her to the hospital. Hope she makes it!
Kind of a shaky day for me and much worse for her.
Pasta primavera with ham, balsamic glazed broiled mango
Ow! Get some rest during your time away from work.
What’s the recipe please?

Simple Enough – Thank You![:p]
Pretended I was on vacation today so friends and I took a drive to Pasadena where we had lunch at
Pie ‘N Burger. I’d heard about it for years but Pasadena isn’t around the corner nor on the way to anywhere else.
I found it a bit pricey for a burger and side at $11.50 but when I saw the macaroni salad I didn’t feel that I paid too much. Delicious! I added grilled onions to my burger which was perfect. A slice of tomato is 35 which always bothers me. It was a messy burger so that part was challenging.
The name is Pie ‘N Burger but I didn’t have room for pie. So I got it to go. Meringue does not belong on banana cream pie. This was not my favorite which is from Apple Pan. This was in an overly sweet custard and I missed the whipped cream.
We then toured Pasadena looking at the old homes. Wonderful architecture to be seen!
Then thanks to Felix we stopped at The Fair Oaks Pharmacy for dessert. It’s an old timey pharmacy that has now become a tourist destination. Not like that when I frequented it twelve years ago. It’s all about Route 66 now.
In no way could I finish it! Two scoops of chocolate ice cream, one topped with raspberry sauce and the other hot fudge.
Tonight I made some mayonnaise tilapia (yeah, it sounds weird, but it’s really pretty good…sprinkle lemon pepper on the fillets, sprinkle some dried dill, spread with mayonnaise, and then sprinkle a Cajun blend seasoning. Bake at 350F for 20-25 minutes.). Served with sides of broccoli and cauliflower.
Agnes, that looks fabulous! Can you share a recipe? I tried to do lasagna using eggplant instead of pasta and failed miserably…came out more like stew.
Dinner tonight will be pizza rolls. They’re in the oven now since I just got home from work.
felix, the key that I learned through trial and error is slicing all the vegetables you are using in lieu of pasta about 1/4 of an inch thick and roasting them in a 400 degree oven for about 20 minutes with a little drizzle of olive oil and some salt and pepper.
That gets a good portion of the moisture out and concentrates the flavor. I make it that way for my husband, who needs to be conscience of his carb intake, using zucchini, yellow squash and this time also eggplant. Everything else I do is what I would do making lasagna with pasta, including the pepperoni layer and meat sauce.
Thanks for all of the comments everyone!
Eggplant is a fruit? A Dimple? Too much to grasp!
Actually makes sense, a cute dimpled butt would be the female
