I will be waiting up for teenager curfew while my husband snores on the couch.

I’ve always stayed home if I did not have to work. It’s amateur night.

spending the holiday with my wife and in laws, drinking up the champagne that was bought for my wedding in Nov that we did not finish.

We have many cases of it too!!! My father in law is the type for whom there is never enough…serves me well.

Missus and I will stay at home, as always, waiting for the ghost of Ben Grauer and wondering where Dick Clark got his head transplant this year. Is anyone ringing in the New Year with a Stalini? I’m sticking with Martinis and a bottle of Veuve-Cliquot ’96 Brut-Reserve (with pigs in a blanket…?).

New Years is a great time to reflect. My husband and I spend time grilling steaks (no matter what the weather), drinking a fine champagne and going to bed at 12:05! All of our friends are married with little kids so we do a happy hour at our country club the day before. Happy New Year all!

M & I will be going over to Forest Park in St. Louis for the big First Night New Year’s Eve bash. The park has been undergoing renovation and it is quite spectacular. The Art Museum – and its Wolfgang Puck run restaurant – will be open as will the Boat House Restaurant, a new golf clubhouse, a new vistor’s center, the Missouri History Musesum will be kicking off the 200th anniversary of the Lewis & Clark expedition and a giant ferris wheel has been set up for free rides. There will be music throughtout the park and all is free. On yeah, the St. Louis Zoo will be open in also. It should be a grand evening.

Hmmmm…since it seems that everyone else will be home, I think I’ll go out and take advantage of the lack of crowds!

Actually, our usually low-key New Year’s Eve plans will be even lower-key this year (low-keyer?) With a 22-month-old already in tow, and my wife four months pregnant, we’ll either go out for an early dinner, or more likely have some friends over. Getting around NYC on New Year’s Eve is a pain, anyway, and something I haven’t bothered doing for many years.

And, in case anyone thinks to ask…I’ve never seen the ball drop in person. And never will. I’ve also never been to the Thanksgiving Day parade (or even watched it on TV since Lorne Green and Betty White were hosting, or some people like them.)

I’ll probably be rushing to finish a batch of job applications that are due on–ta-dah!–December 31st.

Ah–there is no rest for the wicked!

Guess we’ll sit on the beach with a bucket of manhattans and a blanket at the appointed hour and watch for distant fireworks on the island.

I am jealous of tiki’s plans to greet the new year with a good blues jam. wish I was there to jam along.

For 23 years I spent New Years Eve in the walk-in at the restaurant doing INVENTORY…..oh yeah, it’s the end of the month, isn’t it? So I wouldn’t be caught DEAD in a restaurant!!
They do this really cool torch light parade at Alyeska where everyone skiis or snowboards down the mountain holding a red torch. Then they shoot off a superb fireworks display. Afterwards, a bottle of bubbly and snuggle on the couch and watch the snow come down.

One of my sisters (I have four) always throws a New Years Eve party. We all bring appetizers and spouses and stray friends and we play board games. One of our current favorites is Apples to Apples. Never fails to get a lot of laughs. I still love Scattergories and Trivial Pursuit. We got Cranium but haven’t really played it much. Maybe we oughta drag it out.

We go outside at midnight with wine, firecrackers and lots of screaming. Then we go in and everyone leaves within a hour. We’re not as young as we used to be!!

D.C. Minner,bluesman,2 time hall of fame inductee, mentor in aging gracefully, music teacher and darned fine neighbor and friend, is officially retiring on New Years Eve by hosting a party for all who know him—Drinks,Food and the finest blues in the state! The site is the Down Home Blues Club in the the tiny town pop.68 now that Jane and I are here,in OK in an honest to God juke joint that he was raised in by his grandmother, and dates back to the late 30’s—the music will go till the sun comes up–of that i have no doubt–and i imagine that a late night after gig jam session will get going at about 3 am and and bring in the year with a bang!. You really have never really heard the blues till you walk out of the club and watch the sun rise over the jukejoint! I plan on being there!—and i can walk home!!![:D]
