I wonder why so many comedians die tragic deaths?

There is a thin line that separates laughter and pain, comedy and tragedy, humor and hurt.

I met Robin Williams several times, working on Hook with him and a few other times just walking around the studios. He always had time to just talk and was a genuinely nice guy. He will be missed.

I am brokenhearted. He was great talent battling frightening mental demons. Ajoke he made is an apt epitaph. “Cocaine is God’s way of letting u know u have too much money.” RIP and thank u for the joy and laughter u brought me.

Our friend died on his own battlefield. He was killed in action fighting a civil war. He fought against adversaries that were as real to him as his grave is real to us. They were powerful adversaries. They took a toll on his energies and endurance. They exhausted the last vestiges of his strength, and only God knows how this child of his suffered in the silent skirmishes that took place in his soul. But our consolation is that God does know and understands!”

Ed, I also met Robin a couple of times while catering HBO Comic Relief shoots in the 90’s

My impression also was that he was a very nice guy, always on 24/7 the second that he walked in the room. First impressions of his co stars on the show, meh.

So last night I’m watching Robin Williams’ most recent movie on Amazon Pay Per view. It’s called The Angriest Man in Brooklyn, and not only does the plot involve the fact that he will be dying soon due to a Brain Aneurism, but he actually says this line about himself while facing his imminent death: “Imagine, born 1951, died 2014”.

Probably the most ironic thing I have ever seen in a movie.

PS: It’s actually a comedy, but with a message of course. He’s quite good in it.
