I had the good fortune of meeting Mr. and Mrs. Uglesich several times upon my visit to this quaint and small delightful restaurant. Mrs. Uglesich made me the best Blood mary I have ever had. It took her a good five minutes to make it.
It my opinion, it was the most flavorable place in NOLA. Best food I ever had. I hate to see them go but it does not surprise me. Not because they did not have enough business as they had enormous attendance but because they were sorta getting up there and I did not see how they were gonna hand it down.
It was an original mom and pop place that had very distinctive taste. Best I ever had.

Does anyone own the cookbook and what do you think?
After my wife had a few days to look over the book I bought for her last year, we bought 5 more for Christmas gifts. Just the chance to capture a small part of the remarkable tastes we remember from our meals at the best restaurant in New Orleans makes this cookbook worth many times its price. We don’t yet have the second book, but I plan to get one before I leave New Orleans next month.
Yes, I do have the cookbook, and it is worth the price for the Shrimp Uggie recipe alone.
The Restaurant of the Day is random-generated from the 1000+ reviews on the website. We’ve been slow deleting New Orleans places for which we have some hope of resurrection. Uglesich’s has been archived for now.
This is the second time in just a few days that the featured Restaurant of the Day is from New Orleans, and is currently closed, and in the case of Uglesich’s, maybe forever.
So why are these restaurants being featured. You can’t visit them. In print editions of Roadfood, closed restaurants are deleted.

Todays front page review is on Uglesich’s in new Orleans, but I was down there last month and was told it had closed forever. I know they had been threating to do so for some time, but I was surprised to hear this. Can anyone confirm this?
