The question was raised in the thread about the Divided States of Chili article from Serious Eats whether there is such a thing as Oklahoma chili. The answer was pretty non-definitive.
I went looking for some discussion and came across this article from the Tulsa World.
Looks like any chili-hound heading to Tulsa would have lots to choose from.
The second listing, Ron’s, actually has an outpost down here in the Houston area. A transplated Tulsan opened a branch in Tomball and there now is a branch in Magnolia. I’ve been meaning to get out there for a long time but never have. According to the website, there are also Ron’s in other places across Oklahoma and in Arkansas.
There’s a recipe for a white chili at the end of the article above.
I’ve been researching Tulsa for a road trip next month and have noticed that:
A) there are a lot of burger places
B) a lot of said burger places also serve chili
Tulsa-based Ron’s Hamburgers & Chili has been around since 1975 and even has a couple of locations in Texas.
