they sure do…that is my favorite, though recently I noticed they are using processed lobster, but it still tastes good! Quite Expensive, tho!

I’m still curious about Nathan’s "lobster rolls".No, I don’t think they do the lobster rolls anymore, but they offer a breaded fish filet sandwich, burgers, and chicken sandwiches. Although there was a Kenny Roger’s Roasters right next door to Nathan’s.

You can still get frog legs at nathans but you have to go inside. They are not offered on the street menu.
Coney theme parks hopefully will be around for one more season. The latest news is that Thor Equities is negotiating to extend their leases for another season. They want to build a vegas style resort there ([xx(]) but the current zoning does not allow housing. Thor is trying to strongarm the City by threatening to buy up all the property and tear everthing down unles they get their zoning change. Thankfully the local officials are not swayed by these tactics. You can get all of the Coney Island information and latest updates here:

BTW – That’s a fantastic picture of the ballfield and parachute drop!

Developers are moving in to raze Astroland and put up a huge modern theme park with hotels and condos (although the demolition has been delayed a bit). 2007 has been billed as the final summer for the "old" Coney Island. No need to rush out to ride the Cyclone, however, it’s staying put. As is Nathan’s and the Parachute Jump. I’ve heard that they’re going to salvage the Wonder Wheel and move it elsewhere, but everything seems to be a bit tentative right now.
Thanks for answering my question…..[;)]

The dogs and fries look delicious and the pictures are great. I love the picture of the Cyclone — I’ve never ridden it but I do know about getting beat up on roller coasters — last time we went to King’s Island we rode all the big coasters and I felt like someone had given me a good beating!Andrea
yeah, I know what you mean, Andrea… I’ve ridden the "Beast" and the "Son of Beast" at Kings Island a few years back. And those were some rough rides! Those wooden coasters do beat you up and jerk you around..
to the point where you hang on for dear life, so your back does’nt get out of alignment…
Billy Boy ,
Great trip report of the game and Nathans
Does not get any better than that

Nice report BB, brings back memories. Worked in Far Rockaway in the mid 60’s, hit CI many times.
I was on Beach 20th Street yesterday in Far Rockaway. I remember when Nathan’s had Frogs Legs on the menu. The parent company ‘Nathan’s Famous’ also owns Arthur Treacher’s and Kenny Roger’s Roasters. Back in 1975 they also bought Wetson’s.
Billy, did you happen to notice if Nathan’s still offers a "lobster roll" sandwich? For those of you not familiar with Nathan’s, their lobster roll is NOT to be confused with those eponymouse lobster rolls from Maine.
The Nathan’s lobster roll is a (round) patty of minced lobster on a hamburger bun. Kinda like a fried crabcake sandwich only made with lobster. It was always my favorite growing up.

Great pictures. The Spinners must really take some heat for that nickname! The parachute jump ride has been out of action since at least the 60’s. I used to see it as a kid when my family would be riding by on the Belt Parkway and I know I never saw it running.
great pics, Billyboy…
I’ve been on the Cyclone a couple of years ago… yes, those wooden coasters do "beat you up"…
an upside-down super looper steel coaster is definitely a smoother ride…
I should have gone on that Wonder Wheel, as well………did’nt realize it was that good, with those swinging cars…….those old rides are the best , are’nt they?!?

Noticed from the menu picture that you would probably have about $7 tied up in a dog, fries and a drink. Is that normal for that area?
Did look good.
