The Joint in Cape Coral. Buckets for wings or sandwiches in Ft. Myers. First Watch in FM on McGregor for a different breakfast.
My favorite informal eatery on Sanibel has always been Sanibel Cafe, especially for breakfast. But, I do have to tell you that it has been at least six years since I have been there last. A friend of mine tells me it is still as good as ever, though. Here is something I found from the NYT:
Sunflower Cafe 11370 Summerlin Square Dr Fort Myers Beach, FL 33931
My wife and I had the best and freshest seafood platters at this very casual and pleasant cafe.
Not at all expensive, the food is absolutely exquisite. It was the highlight of our vacation!
The seafood comes directly from the fishing fleet right in Fort Myers Beach. The scallops literally melt in your mouth! It was the best seafood we’ve ever had.
In North Ft Meyers try the Smoke N Pit on Bus 41 North of Bayshore. The baked beans are worth the trip and the ribs are good. Also, try the Grouper Sandwich.
Down in the Naples area Craklin Jacks is a real gem, their Gumbo is good and spicy, and great Ribs. There are two locations the original on 951 South of I75 on the way to Marco Island and another on Pine Ridge Rd. between 41 and Airport Rd. The original has more carchater. Dinner is served Family style with the choice of sides.
I’m going to ask again for recs in the Ft Myers/Bonita Springs area. Going there to visit family later this month… Any off-the-wall ideas???
It’s Ft. Myers and go to Parrot Key/Bay right by the Ft. Myers bridge. outdoor dining on the water. Nice atmosphere good seafood.
I am headed from St. Louis to Fort Meyers Beach on the 21st via I-24 and I-75. I just had double knee replacment and we’ll be making frequent stops to get the blood flowing. I am interested in some tried and true roadfood spots along the way where I can recharge my batteries. I figured we wil have supper somewhere around Nashville on the 21st, lodge somewhere a bit south of Atlanta that night and meander our way southward for at least 1 more day enroute via I-75. I’ll have 2 young adults along (1 not so adventurous food-wise) and my lovely wife. Any suggestions for causal around Fort Meyers and Sanibel/Captiva would be appreciated as well. Thanks in advance for your help!!
