Thanks Foodb! Neat site! Lot’s of good sounding recipes.

Ok, no more garlic in the fridge for me. Keep in a paper bag they say is good, or somewhere dark. It is the sprouts that may be kinda bitter.

I find the shoots from the sprouting garlic works well in keeping vampires out. Use a red thumb tack and pin the sprouts on the front and back door about eye level. I have yet to have even one vampire from entering my home.[}:)][}:)]

I’ve never had a problem using cloves that have the green stuff in them. When I crush the cloves I just pull out the green shoot and it’s fine.

Sprouting makes garlic harder to chop/press, in my experience, otherwise it doesn’t seem to affect the quality. …Mind you, I’m not the best of cooks, perhaps there’s just too much else wrong with what I cook for anything as minor as bitter garlic to do much harm.

Garlic sprouts are tasty sprinkled anywhere you’d use green onions. I used them all the time when I had a garden.
