I’ll have to try Paul’s on my next trip to Wilmington from Wilkes County. Zack’s in Burlington and Greene’s Lunch in Charlotte are my favorite dog joints, and I have eaten at many of them (including the 2004 New Jersey hot dog tour).
Sorry I missed them when I was in Wilmington!
I had the pleasure of being in both Wimington and Burlington this summer.Zacks is definately the place!!!I had dogs at Snoopys in Raleigh, but Zacks wins hands down.Love your part of the country! And welcome to roadfood![:)]

I was wondering if many people had heard of a small joint outside of Wilmington, North Carolina called Paul’s Place Famous Hot Dogs? My family used to stop there in the 60’s on the way to the coast. They had a special onion sauce that was out of this world. They didn’t serve chili on their hot dogs which is unheard of in this part of the country. I am from Burlington, North Carolina the home of Zack’s Hot Dogs which are the best with chili I have found. They serve a cheesedog that every "yankee" around talks about endlessly, just cheese no dog. I have eaten hot dogs all over the US as I was a long haul driver for 14 years.
