the type of slaw on a dawg is as varied as the places that serve them, from plain grated cabbage to the above mentioned ketchupslaw and everything inbetween. The best Ive ever had was in a little hole in the wall place we stopped at in Alabama (I think) while going to a friends inlaws. It was a cold rainy evening and they had a warm slightly fermented vinager slaw that really hit the spot. They served it on a toasted bun and instead of topping the dog they slawed the bun and laid the dog on top.
But, wouldn’t that be putting ketchup on a hot dog???? [:0]
Here in Huntsville, AL, ketsup slaw is very popular on hot dogs.
Finely grate one small head of cabbage
Add one small onion grated
Add ketsup (enough to hold together the slaw/onion mixture)
Add one capful vinegar
Salt and pepper to taste
Hello everyone,
I remember reading a while back about a cole slaw recipe for slaw dogs. I can’t seem to find it again. I want to try this. It seemed real popular on the post. Does anyone remember the post that it appeared on? I tried the search function but not finding it.
Thanks
